Title: New Tide Defensive Scheme
Post by: Marshal Dillon on September 21, 2014, 01:47:50 PM
Maybe I'm the only one who hadn't noticed before, but the Tide started in a 4-2-5 defense against UF. I assume this is to go against the HUNH offense. Four D-linemen, 2 LB's, & 5 DB's. The lineman and extra db's to put pressure on the QB and react faster to an outside run or throw. Anybody notice this in a prior game or yesterday? Has hscoach noticed this before & mentioned it?

 ???

I know one thing, with the exception of a couple of plays, our defense looked better than they have all year. Something that stood out to me was that Driskel rarely threw to Tony Brown's side of the field.

They have been doing this for a while.  They even did it back when TT was at UF.

We've used a 4-2-5 more than a base 3-4 the last several years.  The 4th guy with a hand in the dirt might be labeled a Jack LB, but it's still a 4-2-5.

We really don't get to play much base 3-4 at all.

Next year's DL could well be the best we've ever had.

Where is Tomlinson?  Was he injured again, or is he just down the depth chart?
