"Les Miles: Missing 2011 championship banner will motivate LSU"

Later this month, LSU will celebrate a memorable 2011 football season. SEC championship rings will be given to players, and conference and division banners will get hung.

"We understand that we played extremely well and we had achievement," LSU coach Les Miles said Tuesday at a speech in Birmingham benefiting the Changed Lives Christian Center. "Now there's one banner we didn't get to hang, and frankly, that's for future opportunities. Anybody that has three national championships, that's just one too many."

That last comment was a good-natured joke about Alabama's Nick Saban. Even before talking, Miles couldn't escape Alabama as emcee Paul Finebaum pretended to introduce Saban by offering flowery compliments before roasting Miles.

The truth is, Miles believes LSU's embarrassing 21-0 loss to Alabama in the BCS Championship Game will serve as motivation for 2012....

"Eating grass has never been about what it was. It was always just a taste," Miles said. "But I've been coaching 30 years. If I'm on a regular field, I always found a very fine blade of grass. They finally figured out what I was doing and it became noteworthy. My son goes off to class and the teacher says, 'Do you eat grass too?' He said, 'It's not like we have any casserole or anything. It's my dad. He played baseball.'"

That's one crazy dude.

Motivation is good for everybody. It means you have something to strive for, as do we. We are going to get better than last year, I feel a 28-0 win coming on next time. Hey it's my feeling I can say the way I want it. lol, RTR!
