After trailing 6-0 in the 5th, I figured the Braves were toast. This type of game could be a huge confidence-builder for the rest of the year. Now, if we can keep these guys healthy, we could make the playoffs.

That is going to be the key down the stretch. They get some guys off the DL, and the Braves could certainly make a run at this thing. Unfortunately, it looks like the Orioles are clinging to a wild card spot for dear life at this point. Yankees are running away with the division.  Sad

The Yankees looked flat at the start of the season but play like they are on a mission, now. The Braves could really use Beachy, the pitcher they lost to surgery. Plus, I do not think Venters will be effective the rest of the year, if he comes off the disabled list. These are the kind of players who can help you win a pennant. Our hitting has to stay robust and the rest of the pitching staff have to carry the load for us to have a chance to make the playoffs and advance further.

Down to the final out now; nobody on base.  Seems like a long shot.
....... If the Braves lose, they're still just 2.5 games back.  That's pretty good considering they're playing the Nats on the road.
.... That's it, final score 5-2.   Cry

They are in good shape. As all of us are saying, if they can get relatively healthy, they have the talent to make the playoffs.

Braves need a couple of starting pitchers, they have a couple that sure have been giving up a lot of runs this year.

I don't know what has happened to Jurrjens, but he is not the pitcher he was in the past. I think everyone has figured out that all he has is the curve ball. Teams have really been teeing off on him this year.

They are doing it all in streaks this year, winning and losing. Let's hope for the winning streaks to beat out the losing.

What the Braves are doing is nothing short of incredible. They lost Beachey who was leading the majors with the lowest ERA, Chipper missed time early in season, Hanson is hurting, Jurgens is losing his touch, the Braves had to start a reliever, but the Braves are still in the race for the division title. Amazing.

Chipper is taking credit.  The streak started when he got on "the twitta" as he calls it.  Actually he's been somewhat interesting to follow.  He's revealed some of the club house slang...a homer is called a yicketty (e.g. McCann went yicketty last night), but a long bomb is called a mammo (I assume short for mammoth).

Also, his clubhouse nickname is Battle Axe.

Applause E-Cred for the Braves. I see the Braves are 2.5 games back now. It will take a lot of work to make that up.

They have time if they keep up the 7-3 and 8-2 type streaks. RTR!

I'm just glad they swept the Fillies over the weekend. Now maybe that will finally shut a certain cousin of mine up.

Sorry, fellas.  You guys can blame me for the Braves' loss on Saturday night.  I was at Turner Field, and the Braves RARELY win when I'm there.  I didn't think my hex would be strong enough for them to lose to the lowly 'Stros, but I underestimated my power apparently.
