This guy ran for 65 yards on 22 attempts against Bama last year, an average of less than 3 ypc. So I think we could handle him. I understand his move, Penn State is losing their OL and he probably won't put up the same numbers if he stayed at PSU.

Penn State is in bigger trouble than I thought. They only had 9 returning starters and now Redd is gone. Fortt (LB) was projected as a possible starter at LB, now he's gone and they lost their backup QB and Buckley was their backup free safety. A 4 star prospect at safety changed his commitment. PSU went 9-4 with an experienced team, what happens now? Their schedule looks easy, so they may be able to coast to 9/10 wins based on such a ridiculous schedule. 2012 Penn State Nittany Lions Football Schedule September 1 Ohio U Home - Noon September 8 Virginia Away - Noon September 15 Navy Home - 3:30 PM September 22 Temple Home September 29 Illinois Away October 6 Northwestern - Homecoming Game Home - Noon October 13 Open October 20 Iowa Away - 8PM October 27 Ohio State Home - 6PM November 3 Purdue Away November 10 Nebraska Away November 17 Indiana Home November 24 Wisconsin Home They should start 5-0 with this cupcake schedule and Iowa is not exactly a powerhouse for their 6th game. Big Ten football is a joke. I think Virginia and Navy could beat them.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome.
Here we go again. Every year we hear about how SEC defenses can't possibly stop a "real" offense, and yet every year the SEC wins the national championship.
I think they have it backwards. The gimmicky Mickey Mouse offenses are the ones that run into a buzz saw when they play a real defense. Those offenses put up big numbers during the season because they play in conferences that don't bother to field an opposing defense. The first time they encounter a tough, fundamentally sound defense where everyone knows their assignments and will hit you in the mouth, they crumble and in some cases barely make it out of the game alive (looking at you Michigan State, Texas too for that matter). It is easy to run wild in an essentially open field, but much harder to do so when you are laying on your backside with your mouth bleeding.
As for the stats, every single one of those teams that were listed would have MUCH better offensive stats if they didn't have to factor in the results of the Bama game into their averages. LSU, for example, had pretty much no problem whatsoever "running wild" over Oregon, WVU, and everyone else they played. In the first game they managed a couple of field goals and were lucky to get out of Tuscaloosa with a win, and in the rematch they managed absolutely nothing. They didn't even manage to cross midfield until late in the game, and when they did they were so discombobulated that they went backwards for the next 3 or 4 plays and then fumbled the football back to us at the 50. 9 points in 2 games will really skew your offensive stats.
^THIS^ Oregon's mighty offense didn't look so potent against LSU, or even the Barn's weak D.

ESPN is reporting Bolden has transferred to LSU. Click here for linkFormer Penn State quarterback Rob Bolden has transferred to LSU, sources told GeauxTigerNation's Gary Laney on Tuesday night.
LSU coaches said Bolden will report to the Tigers' practice Wednesday, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune citing an anonymous source close to the situation.
Bolden hasn't been on Penn State's team for more than a week, a source told ESPN on Monday. Bolden was technically off the team once he was released from his scholarship -- before the NCAA's sanctions against the university were handed down, the source said.
Bolden attempted to transfer after the 2011 season, but coach Joe Paterno refused to release him from his scholarship. Another troubled QB? A perfect fit for LSU.

I don't know where it ranks, but it sure is fun after a big win!
Agreed, though it would have more impact if we used it in a more discriminating way. Beating Tennessee by a point on a blocked field goal when they had us dead to rights is not exactly beating the hell out of anyone. We should also refrain from using it on lesser opponents when we beat them exactly as badly as we should have. Now, LSU not crossing the 50......... WE JUST BEAT THE HELL OUT OF YOU! Oo, that felt good. I don't know, it felt pretty good when we beat Tennessee that day too!

...Trooper Royce Denney, who either knew or came to know Dyer was a football player. The videotape shows Denney asking Dyer if the gun is registered.
"Carrying a pistol around? Uncool ... You've got a career ahead of you but you're being a total dumbass right now," the newspaper quotes from the video.... The trooper may be the next one dismissed... Maybe, but he's just telling it like it is.

Yes, I don't like that Releford is working out in Kansas City. Maybe he just wants to be around his family and play some with his brother, and maybe his game will improve, but there were rumors in April that he was considering a transfer, so I hope there is nothing to that.
It does not make sense for him to transfer. He would have to sit out a year. He will be a junior and three year starter at Alabama. I wish he was on campus. These summer workouts is where team leaders are needed. Other than Andrew Steele and Releford the heart and soul of this team is first and second year players. I agree that a transfer doesn't make sense, but I still don't like him not being in tuscaloosa.

I thought it was more like Arkie refused to win and just gave OSU the win in that game ... even with their illegal players they still stunk it up
just like Beamer gave Michigan the win in the Sugar Bowl Michigan didn't win that game , Beamer handed it to them on a silver platter with the refs as waiters ...
Yeah, Arkie gave that game away.

Coverage is coming back on tonight. Sounds like gymnastics qualifying rounds, and swimming. I remember watching the Olympics in the 70s, and it was track and field, boxing, some gymnastics and limited swimming, the marathon, etc. Now it seems swimming and gymnastics have become so popular that we are even getting the qualifying rounds instead of other sports.
I didn't mind the bicycle racing. The Americans came close to getting a medal in both men's and women's races. In the women's race, the American woman riding with the three eventual medalists had an unfortunate flat tire or she likely would have gotten at least silver, as she is a strong sprinter. In the men's race, American Taylor Phinney came in 4th, just outside the medals, but the strategy was executed perfectly.
Of course, I've competed in bicycle races, and ping pong, as well as more typical sports like football, baseball, golf, tennis, etc. (I have a first place trophy from the Alabama State Championships in ping pong, as well as a couple more from my UofA days). My wife was a competitive swimmer. So I enjoy watching a variety of sports. But the opening ceremony was Absolutely Boring.

I agree the win against Arky was vacated but that is just like any wins by a team. They will always be the thought that the team that vacated, won the game on the field in your face that day. This is why vacating doesn't matter to me, even Alabama vacated wins but they beat the tar out of people in their face. RTR!
True, but those players should never have been allowed on the field in the first place for the Sugar Bowl -- it was worse than the Cam Newton situation, so bad that the "win" was vacated in record time.
