Title: ESPN analyst Dick Vitale explains what's going wrong with Bama basketball
Post by: Jamos on February 07, 2014, 07:43:42 PM
The 11 a.m. tip in Gainesville doesn't give too much hope for the Alabama losing skid to end this weekend. The Gators are loaded and playing better than any team in the SEC right now.

Long-time ESPN analyst Dick Vitale will be courtside breaking down the action on the TV broadcast. He took a few minutes while filming a commercial to speak with AL.com about what he's seeing with Alabama's struggling basketball team.

He doesn't mention the same continuing problems we have had for 5 years running. It's not just a one year thing.

I think he really supports CAG. He is one of the wisest guys I ever heard speak of Basketball even though he does those crazy comments sometimes. He is right but we do all know you have to have the players in order to win but, you have to work and recruit these guys. I wish they had CNS helping with recruits, now he could learn how to recruit from Coach Saban. RTR!

I normally think Vitale is a blow hard that likes to hear himself talk. This time I agree with him. CAG can coach he just needs better players. Losing Lacey and Pollard hurt more than I and most people expected. Recruiting is the coaches responsibility but to his credit we have five new players coming in next year that I think will make a difference.

I met with Vitale years ago.  He's less 'high energy' when the camera is off, and very knowledgeable.  His strengths are preparation for the broadcasts and excellent knowledge of bb.  I found him intelligent and (get this) a good listener.  Who'd have known?  :dunno:

It's not rocket science; Bama is over matched by most SEC teams.

We need an announcer with the 'high energy' of Vitale and the BB knowledge of Bobby Knight. I enjoy listening to Knight explain what he is seeing on the court but he is so monotone it becomes boring. Vitale talks too much and says very little IMO.

So, we need Dickie Knight? Bobby Vitale?

I agree. Knight has forgotten more basketball than 99 percent of the commentators and coaches out there, but is dull as dirt to listen to.

I love the way Knight can dissect a situation and get to the point in a few words and make it understandable to us novices.
