What did you do for the Smithsonian, Chech?

I was a graduate student working with researchers who studied invertebrates from the ocean floor.  It was at the Museum of Natural History.  I often stayed in there through the night, and would walk around enjoying the displays after midnight as a diversion from the microscope.

Good morning.

Summer is back.  It's going to be a hot, steamy day.  Maybe my lawn mower will come home today.  It's supposed to be fixed by now.

I've got an appointment at the doctor; flu shot and pneumonia shot, plus checkup.  Sounds like fun.

Good luck with the shots, Chech. I feel like I’ve been shot. Did I mention that I actually have to work for a living now?  Angry

Until you find a sugar daddy to pay your dental bills, you'll have to work.
Or maybe we could start a "Go Fund Me" account.

Unfortunately, I fund me.

I fund ME too.
We have dental insurance, but it's almost a joke; covers half or less of most charges.

I've never had any dental work done other than wisdom teeth removal.  I'm lucky I guess.  I don't opt in for our dental insurance through work...it doesn't seem like it pays hardly anything anyway.  I think it has a max payout of $1000/yr.

The vision insurance is just the opposite though.  If you go get an exam and new glasses/contacts once a year (which in my case with contact lenses more than once a year), you easily get 2-3x ROI for the premiums.  And since our brilliant congressional leaders have now made contact lens prescriptions expire after a year, an annual eye exam is necessary regardless if you prescription hasn't changed in 10 years like mine.  Fine work done by some lobbyists there.

Goooood mornin', errbody!  My apologies to any Cubs fans out there.  They really struggled offensively during the second half of the season.  Here's to hoping that the Yanks get put out tonight.  I don't particularly care of the Yankees, plus I'm rooting for the best team to lose every series to give the Dodgers a better shot.

Good morning gents. Sunny for the fourth consecutive day here in central Maryland ( Shocked ). Had a great weekend getting to take the kiddos to the National Zoo (little cbbama-ette's first trip), of course loved the Tide whipping another team, and the cherry on top was my Ravens smacking Picksburgh and making them like it. Good luck to everyone who has a team in the baseball playoffs (unless its the Yankees). My team .... yeah, I'm just glad that misery is over.  Sad

When I worked at the Smithsonian I used to love visiting the zoo.
Still have pandas there?  They were great.

......... Never mind.  Found the panda cam:

Yep, pandas are there, but they are often hit or miss as to whether the exhibit area is open (it is always the most popular one). Thankfully, they were out on Saturday, and the little one was really excited. My son was disappointed, though, because they closed the invertebrate house. He always liked to go in there and see the octopus.

Whichever...  I've been to Opp, but that was over 40 years ago.  I would never buy any drugs/pharmaceuticals/vaccines there.  But I'm sure they have noteworthy snakes, should I ever want to venture 6 hours SE.
