Title: It's Time to Forget Lane Kiffin's Past;

Enough is enough: Lane Kiffin needs to be a head coach again. All he has done over the last three seasons is proof that he is one of the best coaches in the entire country; he's transformed Alabama's offense into a multidimensional, incredibly terrifying monster that is terrorizing the college football world. The offensive coordinator of the Crimson Tide has been kept behind closed doors for two-and-a-half seasons, coming out to speak publicly once per offseason—per head coach Nick Saban's rules, during booster club events or as bowl agreements mandate. Alabama's offense set a program record for total offense in 2014 with 484.5 yards per game, with a unit that featured Blake Sims—who once played running back in Tuscaloosa—taking the first-team snaps for the SEC champs. ...

I always thought Kiff needed to stay at Bama three years to 'launder' himself.  You can't completely forget his past but he has changed the context of it.  He'll still have to explain it in an interview.

He can now leave largely, but not completely, on his own terms.  I'd love for him to stay another couple of years.  Think he could leave for a bigger, better job if he does.

Wherever he goes, he won't have the talent he's had at Bama.  Look at what Kirby is going through at UGA.

No doubt he will get another chance, I just hope his ego doesn't blow it. I think he ends up back west, maybe Arizona since Rich Rod is toast.

Well as much fun as he is having getting CNS upset and winking him opff, and winning NC games I would think he would want at least another 3 years because when he leaves he will take Sark with him. You have to know that will happen. Maybe our next OC will come from North Dakota State he seems to win a lot of games. RTR!

I don't agree with this.  The OC's that we have had since Coach Saban came to Bama have all been successful while utilizing a very balanced offense.  We have had good receivers and RB's on the field all along.  To me, that is a multidimensional offense that is difficult for opposing defenses to deal with...

It all starts with a very good offensive line.  This is what allows the offense to be successful.

Disagree somewhat. OC Doug Nussmeier was let go after 1 season and ended up at Michigann with Hoke. Now at Florida with McElwain. Also, the job Tiffin did with Blake Sims is incredible. I think this is the all around best offense we have had with Saban, excellent receivers & RB's plus Hurts. The whole package on offense.

I also think one of the best things Lane could have done for his career was come and work under someone like Saban.

that's it exactly , Coach Saban is at the helm ....

the guy ran from the vols , got fired at an airport and ran out of Oakland
plus ... his dads coat tails were pretty long ...

as long a Coach Saban is here I believe we could train a monkey to fill a spot   :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

maybe so, but CNS didn't throw Kiff a life line because he is a monkey.CNS saw something in Kiff that he thought they would both benefit

There's a big difference in being a head coach and an assistant coach, the responsibilities are very different and harder for the head coach job. I'm not sure Kiffin can be a successful head coach as we have already seen him fail at other HC jobs. I do agree he is one heck of an OC, probably the best in the country, but I have to weigh in what CNS has contributed to his success at Bama.

If I were him, making over a million dollars a year, I would stay right where I am as long as CNS would have me. He is really in his element right now, doing the things he enjoys doing without all of the pressures of being the head coaching and having lots of fun. He is truly an offensive genius. JMO

#+Hes a good fit where he is at. You got to look at our offense and depth and talent. It would be difficult to walk away from that!It has to be the most enjoyable time of his life

It is easy to get cocky when you are a young coach and have success.  I have even seen it in high school.  In my opinion that is the path he took and hopefully he has learned a lot with his time at Bama.

I thought it was a strange hire personally.  I think I remember arguing with MD about trusting CNS about this hire too.  It looks like the trust that I put in CNS was warranted... :lol2:

Indeed.  At least YOU had brains.
We need to dig up that old thread.  Could be interesting!  :lol2:
