Cool way to kick things off with a game at the oldest stadium in baseball (currently being renovated).

Heyward with a double in his first at-bat with the Cards.

I'm watching the game and the streamers are showing that the Braves are completely selling out. Kimbrell has been traded along with Upton to San Diego for Carlos Quenton and another player. Kimbrell was the only real shining star for Atlanta.

BTW, Justin Heyward is 2-2, with 2 doubles for St Louis in this game.

Red Sox open on the road at Philly tomorrow. Seems strange opening day against a NL team.

I think Heyward just needed to get out of Atlanta. Some players are just not good in Atlanta. I want to see the season start and then next September we will know if good moves were made. RTR!

Hey Doc, is it World Series or bust for the Dodgers this year?

Ehhhh...with the money they're spending, it should be.  I see several teams paying less for rosters I like better though.  I don't understand all the moves they made at all, but I'm hoping they prove me ignorant.

The Padres look mighty good in the West.  If something happened to Kershaw, I'm not sure that the Dodgers are anything better than a middle of the road team.

Hey H.L. I am sure surprised as well as the Padres are playing in the last couple of years. They seem to be in the hunt just about every year. Is there just less competition out there on the coast or are they just that good? RTR!

I don't think there's less competition the last few years.  The Giants have won a couple World Series and the Dodgers have been making the playoffs.  I've been impressed with the moves the Padres have made this year and think they might have surpassed them both.

O's off to a good start, beating Tampa 6-2. 3 hrs and a strong pitching performance by Chris Tillman.

And what do you know? The Braves won! 2-1!
So I guess it will be 1-161 for them?

I give 'em a chance for 2-160.

Red Sox spoil the Phillies home opener beating them 8-0. Boston ace Clay Buchholz is healthy this year and got the season off to a good start pitching 7 shutout innings giving up just three hits.

This is a totally revamped Boston team so I do not know what to expect from them.

Pedroia went 3-5 with 2 HR. Not a bad way to start the season.

They had a bad year, last year, so they should win it all this year. That is their MO lately.

Red Sox open the season 3-1 after taking 2 of 3 from Philly and out lasting the Yankees in 19 innings last night. They play two more against the Yankees before going to Boston for the home opener against the Nations on Monday.

Sox have a really odd opening schedule this year. Two of the first three series against NL East teams.

O's dropped the last against TB, and then got clobbered in the home opener against Toronto. 2-2 thus far.
