Most of the ones on your list played before I was born. Walter Lewis is probably the earliest QB I can remember watching. Here is a list of the ones I can remember watching off the top of my head (in no particular order): Tua Tagovailoa Jalen Hurts Jake Coker Blake Sims A. J. McCarron Phillip Sims Greg McElroy John Parker Wilson Brodie Croyle Freddie Kitchens Andrew Zow Tyler Watts Brian Burgdorf Jay Barker Gary Hollingsworth Mike Shula Walter Lewis The earliest game I can remember watching was the Goal Line Stand, but I couldn't tell you who the QB was that day. And here is my top 5 of the QBs I can remember actually watching play: 1. A. J. McCarron 2. Brodie Croyle 3. Greg McElroy 4. John Parker Wilson 5. Freddie Kitchens I wouldn't be at all surprised if Tua is at the top of the list when he leaves. Different times with different offenses, etc. Out of every QB list in this post none played during the wishbone era. Terry Davis, Gary Rutledge, Richard Todd, Jeff Rutledge and Steadman Shealy were all pretty good. I would not say any of them were the best to ever play at Alabama but they deserve on the list. In a passing offense Jeff Rutledge would have been awesome. Championships, passing yards, total yards, number of wins, win %. AJ ranks up there pretty high in every category. I do not think it is a stretch to say he is arguably one of the best ever. I have no idea who was better between Namath and Stabler. or how they fit in with the guys I listed. They are both top 5 though, no doubt about that.

Gifted runner, but the offense was very one dimensional when he was in the game. He actually had a good first half of his last year passing, The accuracy started declining as the season went on, though. As an overall QB, I thought he was one of the better ones. |
