Title: A Father's Wish to his son on his birthday
Post by: cbbama99 on March 30, 2011, 04:22:16 PM
I have to take this time to wish a big happy birthday to a youngster that changed my life forever four years ago today. Since seeing that tiny figure in the bed at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD, my life has turned for the better. It is unreal that four years could fly by so fast, and I dread that the rest of his youth will go by that fast. I know that I am going to turn around and he will be heading off to college. But I am enjoying him to fullest at this age, when he still believes that daddy is the smartest, strongest, best guy in the whole world. I love seeing that big smile on his face when I come home or wake up in the morning and in that small voice here him say, "Hi daddy." Or get that big hug when I walk in the door from work. I just want to say to my precious Joshua, I love you so much. And all I pray for you is that you grow up to know our Lord as your own Saviour, and that you are happy in whatever you choose to do in life.

Sorry so long, guys, but I had a lot on my mind.

Happy birthday, Joshua! You're a lucky man, CB. My 3 daughters have brought much joy to my life and now I have a 19 month old grandson that worships me. You're right, there's no greater feeling in the world.

What a beautiful tribute to your son and Happy Birthday to Joshua!  Those feelings between father and son don't have to ever change - they just metamophose over the years.  Enjoy each year to the fullest - they do fly by.

Thank you all for the kinds words. Mrs. cbbama99 and I got him a full-size Buzz Lightyear action figure yesterday (he is all about "Toy Story" right now) and I swear the kid has not let go of it with the exception of a few hours while at preschool this morning.  :D

Enjoy. But wait until you see a size 13 footprint on your dashbord. Or see 'em whispering across the room, and are pretty sure they're plotting to kill you. Enjoy. #+

I know exactly how you feel 99.  My youngest son will turn 3 on the 19th of April.  I wish I could just stop time and keep him at this age forever.

Happy Birthday Joshua.  Make the best of it...

I turn 3 .... plus 33 on the 20th of April.

Same here, NALT. I know one day he is going to be annoying me for the car keys and think dad doesn't know anything. That is why I am cherishing this time.

Happy Birthday to your son. I agree with everyone else here - enjoy these precious times. They grow so fast. My daughter went from being my precious baby, to married and now trying to start her own family. I miss my "baby" a lot but I am so proud of the woman she has become.
Loving our children is the best thing we can do for them. :)
