Who will our center be next year. Barrett backed up Valchos at center this year?
Maybe Chad Lindsay, Kellen Williams? Huh? Those 2 are about the same size but I was looking at the roster for a guy not a tall-- both are 6-2, 6-3. Huh?

Agreed, plus why would you move your Outland Trophy winner to center, when's he is so good at guard or tackle?

Well, while we are on topic here, what do most of you expect for the overall OL lineup next season?

Assuming those who played this season, stay at their position, that would mean replacing the C and RG positions, with Vlachos and McCullough moving on.  So, with that being said, Jones at LT, perhaps Steen back at RG, since he played there until injuried, but who at C?

Since Jones' best performances were at G, if he moved back there, then we could see something like Cyrus K at LT, Warmack at LG, Steen at C, Jones at RG and Fluker at RT.  But that's just based on who has played the most.

What I am most curious about is who plays C, since Jones actually backed up Vlachos some this season...I wonder if that was just to do the usual "put the best players on the field" thing, or if it is a sign that we really haven't groomed the next C...

Since the C generally calls the blocking assignments, it's a pretty critical position, and I think that if whoever is next isn't completely ready, there could be some OL hiccups early in the season.

Thoughts?

I think the Ol will look something like Cryus K LT, Warmack LG,  Huh? C, B Jones RG, Fluker RT. Jones was the backup center this year but I do not expect him to play there next year. The depth chart says Vlachos is backed up by Chad Lindsay and Kellen Williams.

Maybe after next year he stay's on as a gradute assoicate o-line coach. I think UA could pay him the same as as the NFL pays Outland thropy winners.

I understand what y'all are saying about moving BJones to center, but I also worry about not having an experienced guy in the middle to get the ball to AJ and call out the blocking assignments. For those who know more about this than I do, is it more important to have that experience at center or at RG?

Good question CB. In order to answer that question you really need to know the personnel better than most of us do. Center is a very important position. We will have a veteran OL coming back so the leadership from the center position will not be as important as if we were breaking in everal new linemen. Centers normally call the blocking assignments. Having B Jones at the RG will help the new center with the calls. I think it will come down to having the best 5 linemen on the field. IMO if B Jones starts as center next year it will be because no one stepped up and won the position.

Glad to have him back, I believe he will play where he can best help the team. Cool
