Title: ***Official Scott, La Boudin Festiful Thread***

Wow! What can I say, there were literally 10's of people at the Scott, La Boudin Festival.  :lol2:

The threatening weather kept people at bay, but it never rained while we were there; the only time it didn't rain.

The pic above is of the dance floor in front of the main stage. Horace Trahan (pronounced Traw-hawn) and the Ossun Express are playing their upbeat Zydeco music for the crowd. The few people in attendance were having a good time.

We didn't stay to see them, but the culmination of the festival was a performance by Wayne Toups, a local favorite and another Zydeco music professional. My SIL told me that Toups was touring in Europe and got busted for possession of Cocaine. Local gossip had it that the City government of Scott sent gov't funds to bail him out in exchange for him doing a certain number of performances per year, in Scott, of which Scott receives the proceeds. You gotta love Louisiana politics.

I sampled the boudin balls, smoked boudin link, and of course, red beans and rice. Mrs 2 enjoyed the red beans & rice and a funnel cake.

It was a well planned day on our part, as we left in time to catch the final round of the Masters. And a great Masters it was. Kudos to Mr. Spieth.  :worship:

Did they have any 'boudin-stuffed beignets'?

Looks awful.  But I'd like either one separately.   :P

We actually didn't see any of those, nor did we get a chance to sample any regular beignets, but the night before the Boudin Festival, I had the best crawfish etouffee I've ever had at 'Don's Boudin and Cracklin' restaurant in Lafayette.

 :P

OMG, you're killing me.
We just had a minimalist, diet-special supper of a 1) strip of carrot and 2) glass of water.   :eyeroll: :eyeroll:

That's what it tasted like after reading your thread.  Wow.

FWIW, I'm back on my diet. I've got 5 more lbs to go (plus whatever I gained over the weekend).  :lol2:

You know Dottie & I lived in New Iberia in 1992 when Hurricane Andrew came through. That area down there was annihilated. I remember the McElheney factory for hot sauce. lol, RTR!

Nice places to visit, especially during the spring (azaleas, Spanish Moss).  LF and I visited the McIlhenny Company and explored Avery Island when the egrets were nesting.  Beautiful area.

Haven't been to New Iberia since I was a kid, when my cousin lived there. They lived on the bayou and there were lots of snakes.

I've never been a boudin fan.  All I've had has been rather bland.  Maybe I just haven't had the good stuff.

OMG, listen.
Fried chicken at the BP station or fried chicken at Miss Dumplin's?

You must've had some of that Lee County boudin.  :lol2:

The stuff in Lafayette and Scott were a little spicy and very good.

Maybe I should have been more direct.
Cajuns can make boudin.  Others can't.  Don't settle for less than the real thing.
Translated for Ricky: "Don't buy grits in Minnesota."
