I kid. But this really is not a laughing matter. JMHO, but I feel a lot of damage has been done here and am not sure it can be fixed. From my understanding, the posts at TS were made prior to Smitty being a mod, when things were very different in his life. I was not a member at that time. We've all posted stupid crap that we had 2nd thoughts about and we've all been flamed (not here). The fact is, if you posted at TS, you had to have thick skin. I think most of you who are honest would agree with that. I don't think all this warranted the casualty that it caused. Not here. Not on this forum.
I've spent time with Smitty and he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. I'm one who hates what has happened here and just had to voice my opinion.

I can't believe what I'm reading on this thread. We are TWO days from Easter and honoring a man who stood for love and forgiveness. smithgeneral has been attacked almost relentlessly by others for YEARS about things he said while he had a deep personal problem that he apparently fought and overcame and contunues to fight. Instead of supporting him, we have some throwing it back in his face. I don't know him, never met him, but what he has had to put up with just isn't right on these boards. Personally, I'm surprised he has hung on this long. He never raped anyone, murdered anyone, never stole anything, he just ran his mouth. Shameful treatment.

You know, I've been thinking of what I could say about all of this.  But MD said it perfectly.

I'm sick over all of this, and first, this thread needs to get pulled.  We were all doing fine until "this" came up, dredging up the past and began attacking someone who was undergoing some pretty bad personal issues at that time, in the distant past.

Who are we to judge?  Things happened, Jody.  Get over it.  You have a beef with someone here, then simply go about your life and make a decision to not interact with a member with whom you've had issues.

I get it.  He offended you.  He offended me, as well, on many, many personal levels.  But I have forgiveness in my heart, and recognize he was sick.  What he did - voluntary rehabilitation - took tons of courage and fortitude.

I have the highest respect for him.  The fact he left I'm sure gives great joy to many people.  And that is what's so sad about people's unwillingness to forgive and to move on.  It's become personal to them.  Personal.  On an internet forum?  Really?

I even forgive you for coming here and intentionally stirring the pot.  But my respect for you declined, which I'm certain you'll lose no sleep over.

That's all I am going to say on this topic; either on this thread or any other.  I'm here to have fun and enjoy the comaraderie of the CRS members.

I agree.  What thread?   When you get my age you'll have trouble remembering whether you shaved this morning.  Life's too short to waste precious time on bad memories.  I consider both of you as efriends.

ditto ssmithhhh, 2 Stater, Marshall and all.  I am sorry for any part I have had in this thread that may have harmed ssmithgeneral.  Playing detective, digging for facts of 3-4 years ago was not the best way to handle this situation.  It's almost like we had a court hearing.

I LOVE ssmithgeneral and have saved a few pictures he posted of himself when we all used to share that kind of thing.  One, especially, I would give anything to post but can't due to embarrassing him and invading his privacy.  All the pictures show a blonde, smiling young man that you would feel comfortable approaching and making friends with.  He looks nothing like the irritable, scowling picture from animal house in his avatar.  Probably, some of you saw those pictures and know what he looks like  from the interview video on Tidesports.

I think we shouldn't feel bad about ssmithgeneral emphasizing his personal life though. After a break, he can come back all fresh if he wants to...and it will be a long enough period for people's feelings to go neutral again.

Oh, I disagree!  That would be hilarious.  At least that would give us something different to pick at, and you could retire the "Queen of the Edit Function" title.

Today is Good Friday.  On a day  much like this many years ago, Jesus suffered and died on a cross so that we might have eternal life.  His message to us was "Love one another as I have loved you."
