"For the last six years, looking at it from our own prism, we were better off without it," Slive said. "The current format worked great for us. If I knew that for six more years it was going to work this way then I wouldn't be for the plus-one. But I think the law of averages catches up over time."    Thinking

I don't know, Slive, with the plus-one system, the SEC would have had two teams (Bama and Florida) out of 4 for two of those years.

I just don't think there is a way to correct the biasness of the folks that do the voting in the polls, even if they had a plus one do you think there would not be some folks trying to get their favorite team into the playoffs and vote that way.

I agree with you Jamos but I don't know how to fix it without a true playoff. I do not trust the computers. Big 12 and PAC 10 schools do better in the computers than they should IMO.

Who'da thunkit 20-25 years ago, that ESPN would be the biggest agenda maker in the sports world today. They are who kept MFBATR from winning the Heisman and they will be very influential with who the plus one and the others will be, if it actually comes to that. ESPN has become the mainstream media of the sports world.

I'm with pmull and Jamos. There would still be someone left out and they would be squawking. Slive doesn't understand that each season is random from the last. Like the roll of the dice, if double sixes come up, then the chances that double sixes will come up again are just as good as on the first roll. The only continuity is that the SEC/BCS Champ will be ranked 1 or 2 or 3 next season--that is in OUR favor.

Computer models need to show their work! Human voters need to make ALL votes public.
