I am more interested in Alabama Baseball starting this weekend. Excited to see how the new coach will do. Pitching will be very strong. I hope we get better offense this year.

As far as MLB goes Boston will win it all.... I hope.

Yeah I am very interested in seeing how the new coaching staff will work out. Unfortunately, I can't get much Bama baseball up here, so what I get I have to hear through you guys and my dad.

And MD, I am trying to figure out how you like the Orioles AND the Sox.  Undecided

Easy. I started liking the Orioles of 1969, 1970, 1971 with players like Boog Powell, Jim Palmer, Frank Robinson, Brooks Robinson, Mike Cuellar, Dave McNally, Paul Blair, & many more. I liked the Red  Sox of Yaz in late 60's, early 70's, then the 1975 Red Sox, plus I hated the Reds & Mets. Loved the Red Sox run in 2004, 2007, & 2013. David Ortiz was such an incredible clutch hitter, along with Manny Ramirez. Plus, I enjoyed the agony of the Yankees.

Cubs and Braves for me.  Braves since the days of Niekro and Aaron when I attended some games as a kid.  Cubs since the 80s when I lived there and had season tickets.

Bingo, same here. First game in 1968 with Pat Jarvis the little bulldog, Aaron, Felipe Alou, Felix Milan, Clete Boyer, Joe Torre, and others. Days of simplicity, innocence, and good memories.

Cheesy  Cheesy, hey I loved those days especially back in the 60's when they first moved here from Milwaukee. One thing I can't remember who was the manager back then? RTR!

If I remember correctly, Preacher, it was Billy Hitchcock.

The manager in 1968 was Luman Harris, a solid manager. He was manager 5 or 6 years. He died in Pell City.

Braves Update-Team Stats & Stuff

Braves 11-20, 9.5 games out of first. Orioles & Cards look good.

NL Hitting:   12th (out of 15)
NL Pitching: 15th & last in all of MLB
NL Defense:  7th
Homers:  12th
Doubles:  12th
Stolen Bases: 4th

Another disaster in the making. Good thing we signed 2 pitchers over the age of 40 for the future.

At least I get my Cubs fandom honestly, sitting through years of mediocrity -- it was more about the game experience than the victory -- and am not some fair weather bandwagon hopper.

Whoa Nelly! The late 1960's Braves were not exactly the 1927 Yankees. In fact, the 1968 Cubs won more games than the Braves and had a better run from 1967 to 1972. Then, the Braves are mostly pathetic in in 1970's and 8 of 10 years in the 1980's, with 1982 being a high-water mark with 89 wins. The Cubs had a solid line-up in the late 1960's, early 70's with Ron Santo, Ferguson Jenkins, Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Randy Hundley, Don Kissinger, Bill Hands, Ken Holtzman, etc. Their infield was top notch.
