Happy Friday Eve! Short work week coming to an end. Blue Angels flying here all week, so between that and Independence Day, traffic is ridiculous.

@ 2, when the boys and I were down there last month the traffic was horrible. I talked to one LEO about how bad it was and I told him that I bet it will be much worse later into the summer.  He said it would be insane...  And to think I have been trying to work out a time with Mrs. Nalt for us four to go down there so I can take the boys out deep sea fishing...

We went to Orange Beach the last week of April and plan to go back late September. The weather is ideal during those times and the kids are in school keeping the parents away. I hate the summer traffic but even worse than that is the restaurant wait times.

Yeah, back in the years B.C. (before children), Mrs. Nalt and I would go to Pensacola in September because the kids were back in school and the traffic was great. Since the kids came along, we have to suffer through the vacation travelers just like ever other schmuck...

NALT, it's hardly worth going deep sea fishing down here anymore with the limit on snapper (2 per person), plus, snapper season is only open July 16-31. Limits are more generous on other fish, but chances you'll catch anything but snapper are slim. It certainly isn't worth the investment. Now if the boys have never been before, that might be another story.

pmull, believe it or not, I haven't been over to Orange Beach in about 8-9 years. Great area, though.

Preacher, Ft. Jackson is in Columbia, the hottest pacle on earth, so I bet you did spend a miserable time there.

I hear you 2.  I have taken Runt out deep sea fishing but that was about 11 years ago when James Edward was just 4 y/o.  I left him with Mrs. Nalt and he cried as the boat was pulling out because he couldn't go.  The Red Snapper limit has been 2 fish per person for several years but there are other tasty fish to be caught.  Also, the snapper season in Florida actually runs from June 16-July 31 according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.  Plus, they will have 3-day weekend season (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) during October and November.
