Title: Welcome to the Worst Case Scenario

Quote
I wrote yesterday afternoon that we did not need the fates to take a last-minute turn, and what happened? The fates did a 180-degree spin and gave us the finger. Oklahoma State upending Oklahoma would have been one thing, but the biggest win in school history and an absolute annihilation for the biggest Pokes win in the history of Bedlam?

Completely unfathomable. And making matters worse, Clemson annihilated Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship Game. In short, everything that could have gone wrong for Alabama went wrong in the worst way even theoretically possible

I saw that quote but I have not seen ESPN doing anything to really beat the Bama drum. But I think I did see Gary Danielson beat the OSU drum.

I think we are screwed. I don't want it to be like this, but I suspect OSU sneaks past us. And gets killed against LSU.

We are in.  And we stomp LSU like Jordan Jefferson stomps marines lying in the parking lot of a bar.

A new story is starting to emerge on twitter.  I wonder if the Big 12 fixed this game to get back at the SEC for taking aTm and Mizzou.

Voters are tweeting that they are already getting a "Case for the Cowboys" e-mail from the OSU Media Relations dept.

The most stupid argument of all is the 'no teams from the same conference' or 'you have to win your conference championship' argument. By saying that chose to ignore the second best team in the country and send the third best team to the NCG. So if your conference has the best team in the country, the second best team is penalized and automatically relegated to the outside looking in.

The retarded argument would be the give someone else a shot. No, you have to earn it. That is how life works.

Somewhere in the midst of these idiots and retards are the ones trying to somehow take the schedule of OSU and turn it into a legitimate argument. Or taking their inexcusable loss and make it seem comparible to the Bama loss. The problem with that is that Bama's one loss is one that every coach in America, with the exception of two, would love to have on their resume. This group should not be considered fans of the game. They are being dishonest with themselves and everyone else.

What do you think CNS's (or Dr. Witt's) response would be if Mike Slive called and said, "Hey we need you to take a dive in the IB"?

I think Oklahoma really is just that bad, as hard as that is to believe.  They have been horrible since their main receiver went down a few weeks ago.

I was jumping up and down when the preseason poll came out. But after week 3, I was yelling and screaming about Oklahoma. The press and broadcast media had to have someone besides the SEC and they just didn't care. All Oklahoma has EVER had on their resume this season was a lot of returning starters and a half a-- QB.

Do you know a web site that posts all of the rankings as they come out?  ESPN has the polls, but (best I can tell) not the computer crap.

I think Tboone Pickens footed the bill and the big12 gave OU a big donation to lay down. Remember this is the same team that was pre season number 1. No way they are that bad.

Let's be clear. You think T. Boone bought OSU's first conference championship to get back at the SEC for stealing Mizzou and TAMU?

Not necessarily revenge, although that may be a small part. I think the Big12 is dying, and they are desperate to have national relevance so they can keep the conference alive. I think the Big12 commish asked Stoops to do it for the good of the conference. To me it looked like the entire OU team didn't care one bit about the game. They were not getting upset when bad plays happened, they weren't going all out to make plays, the coaches weren't jumping anyone's case. I have never seen a team lay down as bad as OU did. After watching them play last night you could make a case that UAB is better than OU. And remeber, this is the same team that went in to FSU and beat them. FSU is not a great team, but they aren't that bad. If this was a boxing match you would say that it looked like Don King had fixed the fight.

Oklahoma didn't give much of an effort, that is certainly true.  I think most everybody would agree to that.  But you have to remember, their pipe dream of getting to the game against LSU was crushed just last week with the loss to Baylor.  So they had absolutely nothing left to play for, and just didn't care.  Honestly, this is very similar to Alabama-Utah in 2008.  Throwing the game is an interesting theory, but I just don't buy it.  I would say that they didn't throw the game, they just didn't care enough to try.

I just know that football is big business, and there's a lot of money involved in this game (football in generel, not the title game) And whenever tons of greenbacks are involved, people do whatever it takes to grab it. It's a cut throat sport, and the big money people are not afraid to get their hands dirty in order to get theirs. Maybe OU didn't lose on purpose, but maybe they deceided not to even practice for OSU. Maybe they spent their week playing on the XBOX instead. I don't know, but I have never seen a team more unprepared for a game as I did Sat night. Even Ohio St played better than that against Florida.
