There is no prohibition on teams from the same conference, that have played before or that did not win their conferences or divisions, from playing in the BCS championship game.
"It is 1 versus 2 with no strings attached, and that's by design," BCS executive director Bill Hancock said of the system. "The goal is to match the top two teams, and if you started attaching strings, then you might not necessarily match the top two teams."

At the end of the day, if Bama and LSU win out and OSU loses, I think the voters will get on board for the rematch. Arguments for Oregon or anybody else to meet LSU for the NC are ludicrous. The country will want to see the 2 best teams play for the NC, and those 2 teams are LSU and Bama.

I say beat that horse!

If Bama gets left out after OSU loses then it is a shame.

The Rest of the country will want to see a high power O play more than they want another 9-6 type game, but there really is not anthoer team out there that can match up with LSU or Bama. So it should be LSU vs Bama...but i have my dubts Bama gets back in.

I think LSU and OSU will meet. Oaky can beat OSU but with them losing their best WR IDK.

I would laugh if Baylor beat them this weekend though.

oh well, Bama had a shot...I hate OT in college BTW.

What the rest of the country needs to recognize is that those high powered offenses only score that many points because they play against Mickey Mouse high school defenses.  Both Alabama and LSU were in the top 15 in points scored per game until they played each other.  Even now they are still both in the top 25.  Oklahoma State is #2 right now in points per game, and Oregon is right behind them at #3.

When Oregon played LSU, that high powered offense was totally shut down.  The Ducks only managed to get 335 yards total in that game.  Alabama got 295 yards against LSU.  They only scored 13 points until those 2 meaningless cosmetic touchdowns in the 4th quarter when the game was already out of reach.

Oregon does have a pretty good offense, but it is only slightly better than Alabama or LSU.  On the other hand, Alabama and LSU both have defenses that are in a league of their own compared to what they play in the Big 12 and PAC 12.

^Ed Zachary. OSU may be 2nd in points scored, but they are 62nd in points allowed at a whopping 26.3 ppg. Oklahoma leads the Big 12 in defense ranked 21st nationally at nearly 20 ppg, Oregon is ranked 33rd in defense @ nearly 22 ppg. There really isn't a team with so much as a mediocre defense in the Big 12 or PAC 12. Mississippi State, a 5-5 SEC team, ranks above any PAC 10 or Big 12 team defensely, @ 17th nationally giving up 19.2 ppg.

Defense wins championships. Bama & LSU are ranked #1 & #2. 'Nuff said!
