Shoot why should these guy be concerned they are going to the NFL. The owners are not going to let these players in the draft get away. RTR!

This lockout situation really disturbs me. Not many on this board or others care much about the NFL, but I love to watch the pros (not as much as college, but pro f'ball is my 2nd favorite sport). To see millionaires and billionaires fighting over extra money is childish. However, one thing I think is important is a clause that I believe would provide better long-term health benefits to retired players, something that I think has been proven over the last several years as a real need.

It's not the millionaires and billionaires that I think about in this situation.  There was a segment on one of the newsmagazines this week with a Jets lineman from Nebraska.  He's been in the NFL for 4 years and made the league minimum.  He's married with a young child and his family has already moved back to Nebraska in anticipation of the lockout.  He said that the NFLPA had been advising players to save money since he was a rookie and he has done so, but he's concerned about providing health insurance for his family - $2000 per month.

I'm sure there are as many players in his situation as there are millionaires.

The league minimum is $285,000. That sounds pretty good to me. They should be able make ends meet during the lockout and get health insurance for their family.

Pro salary's have gotten out of control in all of sports. I do think they need to develop a better retirement plan.

The cost of living in the pro cities varies greatly.  $285,000 in New York is vastly different than $285,000 in Nashville or Green Bay.

Retirement and healthcare are the two issues that I think most people will support the players on.  I'm sure it would be next to impossible for a player to get outside health insurance.  Or if they could the cost would be astronomical.
