I'm telling you, there will be major stuf coming out, especially if Bobby Lowder gets indicted. I think more politicians are involved & maybe others. Also, those who took money would have to pay taxes on it, which of course they didn't do. Still a whole host of things to be exposed with all this money and gambling that as out there. The money from gambling was gigantic. More than $21 million made in ONE day, per testimony in court.

I read an article in the Bham News and gambling brought in like $660 mil and a grand total of $4 mil was given to charity. That's .007 percent that McGregor and his cronies donated to charity. Remember how McGregor was selling his bid for a casino as a way to help charity. The only one he was helping was himself. 7/10 of 1 percent for charity, what an obscene joke. What a sorry human being.

I'll bet (ecreds--not $) that the $660 million figure is not at all reliable. The beauty of this kind of operation is the amount that can be skimmed tax free of the top. The real figures would make the 7/10s of 1% number seem extremely benevolent.

Belated, but congrats on the 5000th post.  Except for the 4992 that criticized my lady pics, you had some good input.    Tongue

Golly, on America's birthday too!

Perhaps he considers Booger football a charity (and it's unreported).  That may raise the "charity" total to 10%.

ROFL-- Plenty to celebrate today.  I told the girls yesterday about your picks and my criticisms. They think I am mean spirited. I've always tried to point things out in a way to try to be helpful. I also related that PHD Chech had just returned from an extended stay in Belize. I hoped they would be inspired to work hardso that someday they too may enjoy the life of leisure. They took it wrong, and now want to stay in school until time to retire to to the beach.  Cry

Mean spirited?  Naw, just a sarcastic wit.  As per the education-leads-to-vacation misinterpretation, you'll need to give them time-limited goals.  Alternately, there are PhDs available for purchase on the web.  Shocked

The younger of the 2 girls is working an internship with a veterinarian in Charleston, WV. The eldest also majors in vet sci. The one working this summer was not accepted to the barn, but is next on the list to be accepted.  I hope it was not my posts on ITAT that held her back from being admitted in Sept. BTW, scholarship money has been a factor in paying for all three. The eldest son also had scholly $, but his religious education and ordainment? was a totally different situation. So all in all, we have been very lucky.

Sounds like a wonderful and well-educated family.  I think Coach Bryant was credited with saying (paraphrased), "You make your own luck."

Good job.

BTW, I'm off to help a friend renovate an old house this morning.  Yesterday we tore out some walls, tore out the carpeting, and ripped out some wiring.

Family BBQ and city fireworks are scheduled for later today.

My oldest daughter will be a senior at Montevallo this coming year. Scholarship money really helps. It amounts to most of her tuition getting paid. Housing, meals, books etc are a different matter. My younger daughter will be a HS senior this year. I hope she can get some help. She did well on the ACT so I think she will be OK.
