Credit Kingpin from Wooly for these (yes, I checked the link to make sure we weren't being "Kingpinned")

Quote from: Kingpin
Cecil has a bunch of stuff on his twitter.  LINK

Both QB's did good.

Both moved the ball.

OL did well.

Defense didn't do too well.

Defense didn't tackle well.

Lack of poise in secondary.

Punters were inconsistent.

Aaron Douglas is showing improvement.

Kellen Williams is doing a good job at backup center.

Steen is really pushing for playing time at the guard position.

Scrimmage stats: Lacey 10 rushes, 92 y, 3 TDs. TRichardson 5-40. Pass: McCarron 18-33, 189 y, 3 TDs, 1 int. Sims 20-30, 225 y, 3 TDs, 2 int.

Receiving stats: Bell 7-89, 2 Tds, Maze 4-82 2 Tds, Hanks 5-61, D. White 4-61.

Whoa, Lacy running against second team D?

I think the critical portion was:

"Defense didn't do too well.

Defense didn't tackle well.

Lack of poise in secondary"

But, Lacy is also the man.  He and TR are going to wreck things between the tackles this year as Fowler comes into to crush people in the Red Zone and Hart provides us that Upchurch style change of pace.

It will be a good year from our backfield.  Count on it.

Playing against their teammates, the "D" has to have in the back of their mind to ease off or not take some's head off. This hesitation has to skew their performance somewhat.

Disagree.  The hardest hits I ever took were in practice

Boy this stuff is interesting. TR and EL will be tough. We have to have our Defense step up and take the lead though. RTR!

Where's Jessee?

Jesse had a some knee soreness and set out (or so I read).

I thought the lack of DL reported stats was interesting as well, but probably withheld for some reason (especially as the sacks are usually off the charts in the spring as they get credit for basically two-hand touch).

The stats are fun to look at but we have to keep in mind that they are scenario driven to meet certain training requirements by the staff.  Saturday's scrimmage was composed of a mixture of  11-on-11, situational drills, red-zone drills and 2-minute exercises, so it is tough to really digest the raw stats.  In any case, it is evident that the OL won the day and that CNS (per his presser) was less than pleased with the overall D effort.

Certainly they'll come around.  It could have been a small bit of the defense buying into their hype while the younger offense felt they maybe wanted to come out with something to prove.

Great job che. These scrimmages are not going to be to harm our players just looking at technique probably. RTR!
