Hey all- we are having the dog put down today.  I got some peace about the decision this morning- he didn't sleep by my side last night.  He slept on the couch and wouldn't get up until an hour after the first person woke up.  His energy is really low today and the only food he has eaten in a few days is dog treats and the McDonald's cheeseburger I gave him yesterday and the mcdonald's sausage I gave him this morning.  I want him to have something if he doesn't want the dog food.  He wouldn't even eat the big honkin' bone I bought him.  BUT...I had to share with y'all what my kids were saying this morning:

My 7 year old (who is taking is really hard): I want another scottie when we get another dog
4 y/o: I want a mascot!
7 y/o: he means a bulldog (hubby is a ms state fan)
4 y/0: no I want an elephant!!!
me: glad we are not lsu fans
7 year old : or georgia tech

so it was really nice to hear them giggling.  Kids are resilient.  I had a really ugly crying fit yesterday and probably freaked them out.  Glad they are showing resilience.

Sounds like you're making the right decision. Poor guy is probably starting to suffer. I admire you for involving the kids in what you're doing. Pretty funny about the mascots. Good thing there are no Virginia Tech fans in your house. Don't know what a Hokie is, but they sound like they are hard to housebreak.
