Title: Watson moving up after Masters win
Post by: Jamos on April 09, 2012, 06:20:22 AM
It was a very emotional ending for a young man that beat all odds yesterday when he won arguably the most prestigious award in golf, The Masters Golf Tournament. Most professional golfers have grown into the championship bracket of golfers by having all of the best training available to them, but Bubba Watson had none of this. This is a phenominal feat, one that I think will never be challenged again in the game of golf. His shot from the woods on the second playoff hole that led to his victory is as remarkable of a shot that any of us will ever witness, considering the club used and the lie of the ball.

Bubba Watson is truly a breath of fresh air for the sports world of today and I must say, it was needed in a bad way.

Quote
Only Bubba Watson would hit a 52-degree gap wedge that ducked under 18-foot-high tree branches, instantly gained altitude, hooked 40 yards, parachuted onto the green of the second playoff hole from 135 yards away, squirted toward the flagstick, settled exhausted about 15 feet away -- and later call the tournament-winning shot "pretty easy."

Clearly I need to buy a "52-degree gap wedge".

Thanks.  Good article.

And thank heavens he defended Augusta from all those Europeans and other invaders now that Tiger is history. We haven't been the greatest in golf or tennis lately. I vote for a return to sports power.

Fitting that a fella named Bubba would win his first major in the South.

I agree. The European talent level has become superior in both sports. We need to get kids out from under their X Box controls and back outside playing things like golf and tennis. I'm tickled to death that Bubba pulled that win out. That shot and Oosthuizen's double eagle will make this Masters one of the most memorable ever.

Ihave a new favorite golfer and his name is Bubba. Listen to his presser after the tourney - his faith is obvious and he is humble in victory. Quite the opposite of Mr. Woods, who is an absolute jerk.

I don't even like golf and have never played it.  But I like Bubba and will probably watch him every now and then.  I watched the end of the tournament yesterday, but then I turned it off and went outside once I saw he hit it into the woods on the 2nd playoff hole.

Play a few rounds of golf, and it will certainly amp up your spectating enjoyment a few levels!

If nothing else, it will make you really appreciate what those guys do. Not an easy game.

If you think yesterday was hard, just try putting a windmill in front of that hole.  HTH.

The only golf balls I ever hit was with a baseball bat trying to see if I could knock them over the fence. I found it easier to send a baseball over the fence rather than a golf ball. RTR!
