Title: Alabama under Coach Saban
Post by: N.AL-Tider on January 02, 2020, 08:07:52 AM
Pretty impressive performance after the 2007 season. Unmatched I believe.

Total wins:                     157
Total losses:                    23
Winning %:                  >85%
Wins last 5 years:            66
10-win seasons:              12
11-win seasons:              11  (2010 Iron bowl loss was the kick-6 game that cost us that 12th victory)
SEC championships:        6
National championships:  5

In comparison, Auburn was chasing their 15th 10-win season this year but failed to realize that goal. They got their very 1st 10-win season in 1957, 66 years after beginning to play football in 1892.  Bama also began playing football in 1892 but got their first 10-win season in 1920. This season saw Bama get their 40th 10-win season.  In fact, Bama had six 10-win seasons before Auburn got their first.  We even had five 9 win seasons that could have been 10-win seasons with a bit more luck on our side.

#+ thanks NALT for the stats. We have come to be spoiled as I can remember the first time I ever saw an Alabama game it was 1963. Chris Economaki was the announcer. RTR!

They're so impressive, I don't think you need to pile on.

Good stuff, NALT. To pile onto Auburn's misery, they, and the other dregs of the SEC West, Mississippi State, are the only losses the SEC have suffered in the bowl games so far this year. The SEC is 6-2 at this point.

Wait!  Are you defending the Booger-eaters of Far West Georgia?  (https://bullgatorslounge.com/images/smilies/saywhat.gif)

The 2010 Auburn game was Cam Newton's Heisman year where we blew a big lead. We lost to USCe, LSU and Auburn that year. We finished the year 10-3 blowing out Mich St in the Citrus Bowl. We have played in a major bowl every year since until this year. 2013 was the kick-6 and we finished that year 11-2.

I know the Citrus Bowl is the subject of running Spurrier jokes, but I'm kind of liking it, giving Bama a game against Big10 teams.  I wish I could have gone this year (making it the third time I would have seen Bama vs Michigan.)

Some teams -- Tennessee anyone? -- would have loved to make the Citrus Bowl this year.
