Pretty much assures that DJ will have another coaching job next year.

???

This is a bigger rehab job than Kiffin, and DJ is starting out as an analyst.  It will take a few years in the Saban Rehab Clinic.

Bingo! This ain't about ho's or losing. This is about actions leading to the death of a player. Don't think anyone will touch him next year. Plus, sure lawsuits are going.

Could this have an affect on recruiting?  Would you want your kid going to a school where he is coaching?  I know he is just and analyst, but those jobs have turned into positions on staff.

Unless I missed something, the article doesn’t say that he’s been hired as an analyst, only that he’s doing some consulting work this week.

It seems odd for Saban to risk the level of distraction that even a one week consulting relationship could bring leading up to the playoff.

I'm frankly very shocked by this. Everyone up here knew Durkin had to go once all the info about Jordan's death came out. The fact he actually stayed as long as he did (albeit suspended) was a travesty, as most we calling for him to be fired before the season even started. CNS has forgotten more about the coaching profession than I will ever know, but I'm a little wary of this. Trust CNS, I guess. I would think Durkin won't be doing anything high profile such as recruiting that would allow his name to be thrown around. CNS already has tight restrictions on assistants, and I think Durkin's collar is going to be even tighter.

I believe in CNS and maybe we really need to let this cool down and see what becomes of it. I heard there are 2 sides to a story and yes a young man died but we have to have evidence of what all happen before we place blame. RTR!

I understand what you are saying, and I believe that the real culprits in this issue (the strength and conditioning staff) were fired awhile back. I don't know how much blame DJ DESERVES, but as head coach, there is the sense that he should have (and perhaps did) know of what was going on with conditioning drills.

Well as you and I both know if something goes wrong with a college team in any sport the coach is the first to be hammered. It is his program and he should know what is going on especially in the locker rooms. I expect CNS will train him quickly in this "Process." RTR!

I looked at the report that led to Maryland reinstating him for a day before the public outcry resulting in his firing.

It appears that, under Maryland's prior head coach, S and C was not supervised by the head coach, and DJ was operating under the belief that the same staff person continued to supervise S and C.

I didn't read enough to reach any conclusion on DJ though.

Durkin  NOT HIRED in any capacity per CNS.

Glad to hear that but honestly just wish he wasn't associated with Bama in any way.

Just saw the scrolling at the bottom of the tv during the N.Dakota State/S. Dakota States semifinal championship for FCS. Saban said that Durkin was there observing practice.

I'd say it's a non-story.  Saban often allows other coaches to observe practice to learn from the best.

And just maybe the observation was "leaked" as a way to gauge public sentiment, or maybe not.
