If all you guys ever get a chance, pick up the book "The Long Ball: The Summer of '75 - Spaceman, Catfish, Charlie Hustle, and the Greatest World Series Ever Played." It was a fascinating account of the 1975 season and goes game-by-game of the World Series that year. That was the year I was born ( Cheesy ), so I was not privileged enough to have seen the series, but I have heard a great deal about it over the years, but there were a lot of stories that I had never heard of before.

Spaceman Bill Lee, left-handed pitcher with red hair & beard, I believe
Jim "Catfish" Hunter
Pete Rose, Charlie Hustle
Plus, Yaz, Tony Perez, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, Carlton Fisk, Fred Lynn, Jim Rice, Ken Griffey, & MANY more.

This confirms you are a young punk. The year you were born I graduated HS.

Don't forget Dwight Evans and Lois Tiant for the Sox. George Foster and Dave Concepcion for the Reds.

Evans catch !   Shocked

not the most famous but a very important one

Pete Rose screaming "ain't this fun Bernie" as he rounded the bases

Didn't Tiant win two games in the series? Or maybe I am mistaken, but I know he was pretty amazing. The author of that book I mentioned said his father had seen his son pitch in the majors since he was in Cuba. The Sox managed to get him to Boston for the series. Very touching story.

Tiant was 2-0 in the series. Both wins were complete games which is amazing in itself. He also pitched in relief in another game. He pitched in 25 of the 66 innings played in the series.

Cincy was loaded and known as The Big Red Machine. Boston had to beat three time defending Champion Oakland A's to make the series. What a series it was. Boston won Game 6 on Carlton Fisk walk off 12th inning home run. That was the home you still see with Fisk waving trying to help the ball stay fair.

Yep, I have seen that shot of Fisk many times.
