I guess he was there at that time as an assistant under Tuberville. 2004? But he and Tubbs were not close-lol. So who would Tuberville get to do the the dirty work (pay for play)? Certainly not the assistant with an ax to grind.

But chizbooger was chose specifically by Pat Dye to continue the tradition (I dont remember where I heard this), so I would guess he was rather complicit at the time, or at least known to be "cool with it"

I think most of this show is about players getting the benefit of the national media to brag about "I got money and what are you going to do about it". How much longer can the NCAA take the barrage of complaints that players are being paid and not take some action.

I think the Newton deal is the straw that has broken the camels back for them in that the NCAA knew it was wrong but what do we do about it. This NCAA soap opera is far from over, stay tuned.

I didn't think the show was good journalism.  They spent the first 30 minutes talking about how unfair college sports (football and basketball mostly) is to players.  "Everyone gets money except the players", was the theme.  Blah, blah, blah.

Then they introduced the idea of NCAA violations under the umbrella of "NCAA is always chasing the violations, not ahead of them", and that's when they talked to the players.  Aubs were the primary target, but it wasn't well done.  No coaches were named, but specific amounts of money were discussed (mostly hundreds).  No mention of anything but quicky payoffs.

I didn't think it exposed anything that the NCAA would use as a springboard; rather, it made the NCAA look bad, so they'll bury it.

The NCAA's cemetery is almost as big as the Arlington National Cemetery. Wink

I really hate to admit this, but curiosity got the better of me yesterday on the way home, so I listened a bit to Finebaum.  The guy that runs Auburn Undercover was on, and he was the one who stated that Chiz was hand-picked by Dye.  I have to hand it to the guy; he even offered the opinion it was orchestrated so that Chiz would be "close" should the crap hit the fan over all of this.

They really do plan ahead for all contingencies there, don't they???
