I found this article on Richt and his troubles at Georgia and thought it would be interesting to some on the forum. In reading this I get the feeling that Richts positon as HC has taken on a lot of heat as the national media starts to voiceing their opinions. I personally think that Richt needs to have at least 10 wins this year and no more discipilnary issues or it may be curtain time for him. Being his team has been projected to be in the SECCG, he might have to make that to keep his job. JMO

throw books at 'em!!! Applause E-Cred

I am so glkad that the Japanese did not think to drop books on Pearl Harbor!!! Shocked

This approach is not my idea. It was advocated by a Krav Maga instructor who was showing a group of us some gun take-aways and such. No bleeding heart liberal was he. A serious security professional, well armed and well trained.

Sorry for going hard to the hoop on this issue. I have seen too many innocent people harmed by gun violence and accidents. I'm back to sports.

And a well trained practitioner of Krav Maga, at very close range, might be successful. If he was throwing books before the badguy pointed the gun at him. A bunch of normal college students would have no chance at all. Someone hopped up* to commit mass murder, throwing books, desk... will only drive him crazier.
And trust me, as someone who is trained as a SWAT Medic (Tac / Med) I have studied on "Active Shooter" situations a little more than most people.

I respect your experience, so tell me more. What do you and your sources say folks should do in a VT situation. Is it really to hunker down and wait to be killed.

Not if you're armed. Of course, if the shooter knew that the the odds were strong that there were other armed students / admin in a room, especially not knowing which students were armed, he may pick a different place to go shoot.   The idea is to be proactive in protecting yourself and others. reactive is too late. prevention is probably the best way to be proactive.

I forgot , somewhere between Chech's first post and here

I lost it ...

what was this thread supposed to be about again ?

The bottom line is: Crowell was dismissed from the team yesterday, apparently permanently.

With Richt's track record, I don't know if Crowell is gone for good. Don't be surprised if Richt doesn't have an "amen moment" and declare that Crowell has changed his ways and is back on the team. Without Crowell, the Dogs will struggle on the ground.

CMR needs to do the right thing and send him packing, for good. It's about time he stuck to his guns (no pun intended) and show the rest of the team that he means business and will not tolerate any more thug behavior from his players. One or two times of putting his foot down should start to get the message across.

Who is left on the team?  ESPN had a story last night; UGA has had a pile of dismissals and suspensions.  Their O-line was going to be the primary weakness (before this RB shortage now), so even with their weak schedule they may struggle this year.  The SEC East may be a joke again.

Maybe his new jersey should have a target on it.

Anna Watson is a Georgia cheerleader.

And, as you can see from this photo, she has bigger biceps than you. And Aaron Murray. And me.

According to the Georgia student newspaper, she turned down a $75,000 modeling job that required her to use steroids. That's because, evidently, her biceps aren't big enough yet. Yikes.

With the loss of Crowell and the other knot heads, Georgia is no longer a favorite to win the East. I think this leaves the door wide open for USC & Florida and maybe even Vandy.

Nice article here detailing Crowell's troubles.  All I can say is thank you Lord for allowing him to have free will to choose Georgia. (or anywhere else). These young men sure are blowing a promising successful career with their stupid antics.

Thanks for the story, Terrie.  We all make some wrong decisions when we're young (and sometimes afterwards), but this guy seems intent on ruining his life.  He was given a second chance, then a third.  It's just a waste of talent, and he'll likely be only an asterisk in memory as a football player.

Hate to sound like my Granny (RIP), but "what's this young generation coming to?"
