Title: Week 7 Games, A Look Ahead
Post by: Catch Prothro on October 07, 2012, 10:25:03 AM
Congrats to Sqwig and the three Bama's on great picks this week.

A look ahead to televised games during week 7:

Morning games (Take at least Texas and Barn games):

Louisville v. Pittsburg, ESPNU
Kansas State v. Iowa State, FX
Texas v. Oklahoma (a must pick), ABC
Northwestern v. Minn, ESPN2
Iowa v. Michigan State, ESPN
Auburn v. Ole Miss, SEC morning game (Burn down the Barn!)

Afternoon games (take at least Bama and Notre Dame games):

NC v. Miami, ESPNU
Utah v. UCLA, Fox
Bama v. MO, CBS
WV v. Texas Tech, ESPN/ABC
Stanford v. Notre Dame, NBC
Oregon State v. BYU, ABC
Illinois v. Michigan, ESPN/ABC

Early Evening games (take at least Florida game):

BC v. Florida State, ESPN2
Florida v. Vandy, ESPNU
USC v. Washington, FOX

Later Evening games (take all 3):

USCe v. LSU, ESPN
Tennessee v. Miss State, ESPN2
Texas AM v. Louisiana Tech, ESPNU

Anyway, I have the top 9 games to pick as:

Auburn Ole Miss
Texas OU
Bama MO
Stanford Notre Dame
WV v. Texas Tech
Florida v. Vandy
USCe v. LSU
Tennessee v. MSU
Texas AM v. Louisiana Tech

And potential game 10 as:

Louiville v. Pitt
Kansas State v. Iowa State
Oregon State v. BYU
BC v. FSU

The Bama point spread might be so high that we could pass on it -- Bama isn't going to lose to a team that just lost to Vandy, after a bye week, despite this game's preseason projection as a "trap game."   :P

Thanks for putting all of this information together for us.  I know it is a lot of research to figure out what games are going to be on TV, what time of day, what network, etc.

nah, it's pretty easy actually, if you know where to look, ESPN.  http://espn.go.com/college-football/schedule/_/week/7

I don't include games on channels that most folks don't get, like CBS Sports Network or NBC Sports network, although those games (Boise State v. Fresno State or Central Florida v. Southern Miss) wouldn't make our list anyway.

Well I appreciate all the work that has gone into these games. I know it has to be hard work. This week these one loss teams could be a game closer to being gone from the picture. RTR!

I think the OSU - BYU game would be a good choice. That has trap game written all over it for the Beavers.

That's a good one.  I think we probably will get coverage in Alabama -- ABC has three games scheduled in that time slot, and we'll get one of those on ABC and another on ESPN:

WV v. Texas Tech, ESPN/ABC
Oregon State v. BYU, ABC
Illinois v. Michigan, ESPN/ABC

Usually, the coverage map separates out the Big10 and Big East, and that's the game we wont get.

I can't believe that 0-1 made the leader board.  We only had 2 guys get the first game right?

The Ole Miss game finishes before the Oklahoma game so I get to start out 1-1 instead of 0-2.

I nailed the tie breaker, but I am 2-4 on the games.  I missed 2 games by 1 point each.  >:(

The only 2 I got right are Alabama and Auburn though, so I will take it.

You can't complain about Notre Dame since it went into overtime.   :what:

I think a lot of us missed on Kansas State.

Thanks. Blut what I want is a roll call for those who hit the WVU/TTU game. Theiy're the geniuses of the board. That was the only game I thought I had locked down.

Congrats to all the winners you guys made some fine picks. I missed the auburn and West Va. games and I thought they were a lock. Auburn has gotten so low they would have to jump up to kiss a snakes' belly. RTR!

It looks like Leewillie is the only person who picked that game correctly.

WVU always loses at least one game a season that no ones sees coming. Last year, maybe, it was the East Carolina Pirates. I saw thm on the local news trying to blame the wind for GenoSmith's inaccuracies. LOL --The wind did not blow when TT had the ball?

One more characteristic of WVU-- they tend to stay down when beaten-- K State up next.

Morgantown is a hard place for team's to get in and out. I'm changing to WVU and also picking the Tide to have a break out, mid-season game against the Vols.  Bama 48-3 RTR

I'm banking on KState's defensive. As in, they seem to have one. That seems to be all it takes to stop WVU.
