Very memorable game for me. I won a bet with my girlfriend on this game. I won't say what I won, but you can prolly guess what it was since this was so memorable to me. The last TD in this game was scored by Paul Spivey. I later dated his sister. She was a very sweet girl.
Great downfield blocking!  Bama still excels at that.

Some great pix in here.  I was at the 1966 game we won 11-10.  As earlier poster said weather was awful.  UT went ahead 10 -0 but mid 3rd qtr rain stopped and Tide rallied to win.  It was a heart stopper.

I was only 10 Sad  But I guess it was about that age that I started picking up on "The Bear" and the Crimson Tide.

1966 I was feeding chickens on a farm and raising hogs to put up for the winter. We still somehow got Tenn and Alabama on the radio, sometimes up on top of the mountain. RTR!

Must be the same age...didn't even know UA existed...all we had was a radio. Cry

The weather was so bad when Alabama kicked the fg that most of fans in the Bama section couldn't see the ball and had to wait for the ref's signal.  UT missed a short fg from inside the Alabama 10 at the end; would have won the game for them.

Yeah, well nobody's perfect.  Two years later we were back at Neyland and lost 10-9 on a 2-point conversion that failed.  Sad

Without needing to know the circumstances , he probably felt (in 1966) that they were going to give it to ND or MSU anyway.

He probably knew it was a lost cause, indeed.
Anyhow, 1968 was also the year that Missouri CRUSHED us in the Gator Bowl.   Sad

In those days before tie breakers, it was considered poor form to go for the tie.

Vols beat Alabama for the third year in a row 38-21 at Birmingham. After the game, Manning climbs a ladder and leads the Pride of the Southland Band in a rendition of Rocky Top.
