Title: Alabama Basketball Update October 2016
Post by: Marshal Dillon on October 17, 2016, 03:33:59 PM
News for men's & women's basketball.

Quote
Homewood point guard Hannah Barber has earned a reputation for making the right decision at the right time.

Barber made a big decision today, publicly committing to play college basketball at Alabama. She announced her plans on Twitter.

Quote
Decision day appears to be coming soon for John Petty.

The Mae Jemison 2017 guard and reigning Mr. Basketball has cut his list of finalists to two - Alabama and Kentucky - and plans to decide by November, he said Sunday at Northeast Alabama FCA Media Day in Huntsville.

Quote
Petty is rated five stars by ESPN, and four stars by 247Sports, Rivals and Scout. He is ranked the No. 5 shooting guard in the nation by the 247Sports Composite.

Petty averaged 19.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.8 steals while leading J.O. Johnson to a second consecutive 5A state championship in the program's final year. He was also named Gatorade Alabama Player of the Year.

Quote
Jemison's Devonte Lanier, a 6-foot-7 senior, said he plans to choose between Alabama and Middle Tennessee by November. Lanier is the nephew of former Alabama star Bobby Lee Hurt.

And this, if you missed it.

Quote
2017 top 10 prospects Collin Sexton was a standout at the USA Junior Workout. And he told 247Sports that there are two schools that are standing out to him.

Sexton, a 6-2, 175-pound point guard from Mableton (Ga.) Pebblebrook High School, enjoyed his official visits to Alabama, Kansas, N.C. State and Oklahoma State. Alabama and Kansas, however, have a decided edge in his recruitment.

Sexton's official visit to Alabama was his third visit in total to the campus. He had nothing but positive things to say about the visit and Head Coach Avery Johnson.

Good news all around.  I think I'd prefer the guys deciding between Alabama and Kansas/Kentucky than Middle Tennessee.  :lol2:

Rumors everywhere that both Collin Sexton and John Petty will commit to Bama on November 10th. After Sexton's recent visit to Bama he said he wanted to play at a school where his family could come to the games and support him. He is from Georgia and our competition is Kansas. John Petty cancelled his official visit to Kentucky and scheduled his commitment to the same day as Sexton. All extremely good signs.

If this is true, these two five stars along with the the three solid recruits we already have committed could be the Fab 5 we have been dreaming about.

Buckle up!!!

GREAT news if true. Bama could be a powerhouse program in just a few years.
