This week's Top 10 list: Toughest schedules in 2012. To help figure things out, I awarded a point system to every team's opponents: 1 for a “cupcake;” 2 for a decent team; 3 for a top 40 caliber opponent; 4 for a top 20ish opponent; 5 for a Top 5 heavyweight. I'd also bump up the point total, usually half a point, if it were a road opponent. (When it came to ties, such as Michigan vs. KU vs. Ole Miss, I factored in things like sequencing -- meaning the Alabama into Air Force game makes AFA a bit tougher than it would normally be. Same for Ole Miss having an easier opening month.)

The Notre Dame schedule does look tough but then there is a huge drop-off. JMHO

FIFT. I do not get the Clemson love. Not one bit.

Quote
7. Auburn: The Tigers open with one of the most exploded teams in the country, facing Clemson in Atlanta. Then visit Miss. State. Their conference schedule isn't as ominous as Ole Miss because at least Auburn gets to host LSU, Arkansas, Georgia. Of course, the Tigers do have to go visit their archrival Alabama. Points: 39.25

I thought the same thing and then they go on to mention playing Miss. St. Ooooh, however will they manage those 2 juggernauts?

I guess those guys think a little more about the toughness of the PAC 12 than I do.

Alabama's schedule is relatively easy, compared the most other SEC teams, because they don't have to play ALABAMA.

Then, if the Tide manages to win all those games, the SOS really takes a hit. Better off, at least as far as SOS is concerned, to lose all those games. ???

I heard Dabo got a 6yr extension at Clemson, While I am happy for him as a Bama man, At the same time I don't get it. After that Bowl game you give him 6 more years????? ???

Yeah, but think about it, he's only given up 70 points once since he's been there.

Good that some member of the press is looking at SOS, but better if he will review his rankings at mid-season and again at the end of the season.  There are always in-season surprises that affect SOS.
