Title: Glen Campbell Shares His Final Song...
Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on October 13, 2014, 09:59:59 AM
Quite touching...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8TsAh-zYFI

Quote
Glen Campbell has shared the video for "I'm Not Gonna Miss You," a track that the country music great previously revealed will be the final song he ever records as he battles Alzheimer's Disease. The ballad's devastating lyrics detail Campbell's struggle with the illness, but juxtaposed with the music video, which utilizes personal home video and performance footage from throughout Campbell's life, the result is a truly poignant experience.

Truly, a remarkable musician.

Truly, a tragic disease.

I just don't understand with the resources we have in this nation that we can't find a solution for all these diseases. RTR!

This is just a terrible, terrible disease. I've told my wife before that I can get by without certain things in my life, but if my mind is taken away from me, I would rather be dead.

My mother developed this terrible disease and I prayed that God would take her before everyone became a total stranger to her and my prayers were answered. She was 85 when God brought her home.

It is so saddening to watch victims of this disease struggle with life.

My father died in 1976 after a long illness. My mother re-married in 1979 and died suddenly in 1993. Almost immediately after her death, her husband started exhibiting symptoms of dementia. I really think the good Lord took her because she could not have handled taking care of another man with a long term illness. I became his POA, and still am.

He is full blown Alzheimer's now, and a resident of a V.A. nursing home in Alabama. It is a devastating disease.

I thought a lot more of him before he stole Mac Davis wife. Mac got over it so I guess I should too.

He had some good songs. My favorite was Wichita Lineman.
