Title: Ensuring Pay for Military Act

53 Republicans support this bill.  Only 4 Dems do.  This is why I hate liberal *******s.

Its a sad commentary on our political system when there is not bilateral support for such a bill.

It's up to 70 CoSponsors, now.  Here are the links where you can see the actual bill and the list of Cosponsors.  I'm e-mailing my representative now since he's not listed as a cosponsor, yet.

The whole congress should to be ashamed of themselves.  They make me so mad.  Passing bills they don't read, spending money they don't have on pork projects for their district, all the while letting important expenditures like this go unpaid.  I don't mind one bit paying taxes.  But it bothers me when the congress piles all the money on the Washington Mall and lights it on fire, while our military families have to live off savings.

 >:( :pullhair:

I mentioned yesterday that Lowell Baron finally got himself voted out.  Do you know that he owned a chain of those payday loan places, and was passing legislation to benefit them?  Those places are basically loan sharks, and their number one prey is young military families that only get paid once per month.  The ones that are just starting out and don't have any savings yet.

When will we ever get some decent people in office in this country?

Anybody on this forum would be 1000 times better than the typical Washington insider that we have now.

After my business gets established and I am a bazillionaire I will run for office and my policy will be to vote how the people of my district want me to.

HaHa...I love it.

We're a nation at war, yet we can't manage to get our fighting members so much as a cost of living adjustment to their salaries and have initiated measures for a redux in forces while we're still fighting an undermanned war (and starting new ones).

Now, we need special legislation to ensure the troops get paid while their still engaged in combat.

I laugh but it is a sad state we are in.  I hope for 100% turnover in congress over the next few election cycles.  Hopefully, we'll find a group that can see that working together to get the sensible agendas passed is more important than firmly dividing party lines.

I appreciate the intent of this bill, but even the "production" that the 3 in the linked video put together is representative of the problem.  They took an issue which may have been a valid concern and instead of simply reaching forward to get it passed on its own merits, they spent more time isolating the President and the Dems.  Basically saying, "Hey look at us.  We love our troops and those guys suck."

While that may be true to a great extent due to the everchanging non-sensical ideas that drive the liberal agenda, I've got news for them....they are all one in the same.  A bunch of politicians and not one true statesman among them.  We need change in Congress and we need it now.

Nothing gets accomplished if each side takes every opportunity they can to use valid platforms to poke the other in the eye on a grand stage.  To me, that is BS and puts good legislation (like that presented) in jeopardy of being passed as it forces the other side into a corner and does nothing to promote unity of effort.

You all and I know that the Govt. employees will never be beat out of pay because of the foolishness of Congress. I agree that they shouldn't loose their money because it ain't their fault. Good luck. RTR!

At least the House is thinking of our military

Quote
House Republicans advanced legislation Thursday to avoid a government shutdown for one more week, cut spending and fully fund the Pentagon, but the White House labeled the measure a distraction and said President Barack Obama would veto it.

Just got the official notice today concerning our pay.

If the issues are not resolved, tomorrow at midnight we will enter a shutdown.  Military members receiving bi-monthly pay will receive only one week's worth of pay.  Military members who receive monthly (end of month) pay will receive a NO PAY DUE LES (LES is a leave and earnings statements...basically our paycheck).

But, we are all directed to show up to work as scheduled and soldier on as we always do.

Once the budget is signed, normal pay will resume.

Good Times...gotta love it.

There are lots of leadership challenges that we face as military leaders, but (just having relinquished a command of dedicated paratroopers) I am glad that I do not have to be the one to brief this news to my recon troops engaged in fighting a rigorous ground war in Afghanistan that their families are SOL for pay next month if Congress doesn't pull their collective heads out of their 4th point of contact (that would be your butt for all of you legs out there).

It is easy to say use your savings, but a substantial amount of junior military members are already dependent on additional government aid just to make ends meet and put food on the table.  The average Pvt. Joe Snuffy with one each wife and kid do not have the means to live off of savings.  Must be a sick feeling to know that they are half way around the world fighting a war and their families won't have grocery money next month, let alone rent money.

Sad state of affairs indeed.  Makes one wonder how we got here.

I say vote them all out and let's start over.

My Congressman IS new.  At this point, I think we need to completely redo our entire political system.  We need at least 5 viable parties to keep those elected thinking about the fact that unless they do the right thing, they WILL be replaced.

They need to be replaced for even bringing this thing up. I think our Soldiers should lay it down till the Congress gets their heads on right. RTR!

The problem would be that the people watching and waiting to shoot them or blow them up would not take the same pause.

I'd imagine that if it happens there will be several duty formations and releases for those that are Stateside until this is done.

But, the families of those deployed is what really bothers me in this situation.
