McElwain, who thought the hit on Del Rio was dirty, reportedly was yelling at the North Texas sideline after the third-quarter play and had to be restrained by UF players.

Watching that video loop it doesn't look to me like there was any intention to injure Del Rio.  It almost looks like he might have stumbled somewhat as he was going in for a legal "blind-side" hit... Hate that Del Rio was injured regardless...

But in the case of Del Rio the defensive player was NOT rushing unabated.  He was trying to get around the LT.  He seems to have slipped or maybe his feet hit each other.  Regardless, he was falling as indicated by his left knee hitting the ground before he hit Del Rio.  This was a totally unintentional accident that should not have been flagged.
