The Alabama men's basketball team will close its two-game homestand on Tuesday night when it welcomes Kentucky to Coleman Coliseum. The contest is set to tipoff at 8 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPN.

“We are excited to tomorrow’s game against Kentucky,” UA head coach Anthony Grant said. “After watching them on film, I am very impressed with their length, athleticism, speed and quickness. The numbers tell the story on what they are doing from an offensive standpoint. They are very efficient offensively. Defensively, they are an extremely diverse team. They are very talented in their ability to create steals, block shots and get in passing lanes. It will be a great challenge for our team. We have to do a great job offensively with our decision making and execution. Defensively we have to do a great job getting back in transition and limiting their opportunities in the open floor situations. We are looking forward to the opportunity."

The Crimson Tide (11-6, 3-1 SEC) enters the game having won three straight SEC games and four of its last five overall following a thrilling 50-49 win over Texas A&M last Saturday night. Sophomore guard Trevor Lacey hit the game-winning jumper with nine seconds remaining to lift the Tide to the win. Lacey finished with 14 points and led the team with six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Junior guard Trevor Releford returned from an ankle injury to finish with a team-high 15 points off the bench – all coming in the second half.

I expect to win this game. Both teams RPI is in the 50's and we are at home. Kentucky has a quick turnaround on this game. They played a late away game at the barn on Saturday night and now have to travel to Tuscaloosa on Tuesday. This is not a great Kentucky team.

Bama 68-63.

Yep. But talk about turning an otherwise so-so season around!

It's all about how well the defense plays, this is what drives the offense.

I sure wish our team the best. If we play defense better we can and should win this game. Rebounding I think is still the answer, we need to rebound great. We don't need to get caught up in their game speed but play at our on pace. Let us go get them this time. RTR!

So far we have been able to out-athlete our opponents. Even win a few games that were against teams that were fundamentally better. This approach, comes with its drawbacks-- 27% shooting is one.  But Kentucky can match up man for man all day long. Our 1/2 court offense is awful. We play best at 90mph. Kentucky has young guys that we can rattle--much like what we did with full court pressure against TAMU. My best hope is pmull's theory on the Kentucky travel nightmare.

Kentucky's got some big ole boys too, so I don't see us getting the rebounding edge. Bama will have to out-hustle them and play great defense to win this game. They got some timely steals from aTm that helped them win that game. They will need to do that early and often again tonight. If they do, that should help them score more in transition, which is what they're good at. The more we have to go to the half court offense, the less chance we have, unless we pick and screen better than we have in the past.

One exception to my 90mph theory is Lacey. If he does not set up and square himself to the basket, his shot may end up on the 3rd or 4th row. But we cannot get bogged down in a 1/2 court game. Even defensely we have not been stellar in the 1/2 court game.  Once you get past our talented front court, our "orchard is ripe for the picking".

We're headed to the game, I feel like Bama sends the Wildcats home feeling more blue than the color of their uniforms. Wink Roll Tide!!!
