Title: Alabama softball team wins its first national championship Post by: Jamos on June 07, 2012, 12:43:44 AM Just when it looked as if it was going to rain on the Alabama softball team's parade, the Crimson Tide rallied and won its first national championship.
Alabama spotted Oklahoma a 3-0 lead, then scored four runs in a fourth inning that was delayed briefly by rain. And what can I say about Jackie Traina? She might not be be the best pitcher in the country, but I've not seen anyone better than her. She is mentally tougher and more unflappable than any pitcher I've ever seen. What a fitting way to end the game, Traina striking out the National Softball Player of the Year. Most folks think of this as a ticket program at the university and really that's actually what it is. But as I thought back to the look on the faces of the Oklahoma players during the brief rain delay as they sat in the dugout, the words Tide Pride came to mind. As the Bama players, coaches, and fans were standing in the rain and screaming roll tides that I believe could be heard all the way to Norman, the words Tide Pride were more that just a ticket program. I have seen these voices change football and basketball games before and I have seen it at some of bama's softball games but not like last night.
As the yells grew louder with more intensity, I realize now that they were challenging not just Oklahoma but the NCAA reprentatives as well to settle this game on the field and not by some rules. This was the pride of all of the Bama suporters and players/coaches and this was what Tide Pride actually is, the heart and soul of the Bama nation and not a ticket program. There's not a better sports program in the nation right now, because TIDE PRIDE rules college sports and there's more to come.
