Title: Bama's Scrimmage Today
Post by: Jamos on April 09, 2011, 07:12:41 AM
I'll be attending the scrimmage today and I am very excited about it. I've been reading about all of these guys and how they have improved, but it's nothing like sitting and watching. Also, I will get to listen to CNS after the scrimmage, not bad for a lazy Saturday afternoon.  8)

Great.  Please take notes and give us a report.  Hopefully Jessee plays today.  And I'm eager to see how well Hart plays too.

Sure! I'm kinda eager to watch McCarron and Sims with the receivers.

How was it?

The scrimmage went very  well, but it was extremly hot. I was VERY impressed with the conditioning of the veteran players, there are NO big gutted players anymore.

The two best hits I saw was when Sunseri put a big hit on Bell after a catch and Fluker just buried Chapman on a block, Chapman was shaken up a bit. Fluker is extremely quick on the snap.

The jury is still out on the QB's, but I thought Sims was the more accurate on the longer passes. When Sims hit Hanks on a post pattern for a TD it was a thing of beauty, Bell never broke stride.

Richardson opened the scrimmage with some impressive running, the man will hurt you when he hits you. Lacey is much improved, no fumbles today, he and Richardson should make a great duo.

CNS talked in great lenght about maturity today, he said the lack of this is what hurt the team so bad last year. There were only 8 seniors on the team and it really showed. The maturity that he talked about was how each player reacts to certain situations, such as maybe not being the starter for that practice or game and how they react to this. He said he does this intentionally to see what the players will do, some it doesn't bother but some will pout up.

There was a recruit there today, and he was HUGE, that CNS ran across the field to shake his hand before the scrimmage started. Looked like the recruit was there for a visit and was leaving.

The funny of the day was when he was asked if Greene and Moore were still on the team and he responded with, "did you see them out there today" ?

CNS also went in lenght to tell us how successful the football program has been with academics. He is tremendously proud of that.

Last but not least he talked about what a player and a person that Julio Jones was. He said that he respected Julio more for the person that he is than the player he was at Bama. He said he is a huge ambassador for the school.

Do you have any insight on what CNS meant when he said some of our guys were playing "bulla bulla ball"?

You never really know about his descriptions of something but I'm betting he wasn't satisfied with those player.

I haven't watched the video yet, just got it in a tweet.  He was referring to DL Williams and Dial.

He wasn't pleased at all with the way they tired toward the end of the scrimmage and made a lot of mistakes. That is the maturity he is looking for from the young players to build the depth the team needs to be a champion.

By the way, I was impressed with Jesse Williams, he's quick for a big man, he actually ran down a couple from the back side. By this fall he should be right in the mix for playing time.

What position was he playing?

Man this sounds good from what I can tell it was a great practice. I would think being tired is from not being in the 4th Qtr. program, right? RTR!
