The owner should be arrested.

Thursday breaking news:
Slidell, LA is flooding this morning.  Water has breached a railroad levee, sending rapidly rising water into "old town" in Slidell.

Lafitte, LA issued a mandatory evacuation during the night due to rising water, but many of the residents were frustrated by water and downed trees across exits roads.

In total, 800 homes were underwater in Braithwaite, LA yesterday.  Rescuers took 75 people from rooftops there.

From Channel 8 (New Orleans TV).

Rescues continue this morning.  I just listened to a report of a woman in a wheelchair who was found in the darkness and rescued as she tried to wheel her way to safety.  She was on a roadway surrounded by cows and deer (seeking higher ground).

A levee breach on the west side of the river (opposite Braithwaite) has flooded.

Flooding in Lafitte, LA has inundated houses and municipal buildings.  Rescuers are trying to get there this morning (in the darkness), but roads are flooded.

Waveland and Bay St Louis, MS have flooded streets, and some homes have flooded.  They received in excess of 7" of rain Wednesday, plus wind-driven tides pushed water across Highway 90.

Isaac's rainfall flooded a number of streets in this Bay St. Louis, Miss., neighborhood preventing firemen from responding quickly to a fire that destroyed a house...

Two of these models show the storm looping around back southward.  Weird!  Hopefully it will just go northward where its rain is needed.

Note: These models update automatically, so they may change each hour.

This is the worse Category 1 storm I remember.  But (as said above), it's the duration of the storm that made it so bad.  Many in south Louisiana are saying it's worse than Katrina, but that's moot.  Katrina's approach to the coast wasn't nearly as bad for Louisiana as for Mississippi; south Louisiana didn't have as much high water.  So, the comparison isn't appropriate.  Katrina was remembered because of failed levees in New Orleans, not tidal surge and rain south of there.

True.  Katrina made landfall near the Louisiana Mississippi border, so those towns east, in Mississippi, got the brunt of the tidal surge and high winds.  Bay St. Louis, MS was demolished in Katrina.  Isaac is worse for Louisiana because it hit further west.

I just heard on the radio that 2 men were arrested in Natchez for price gouging (gas prices).  Hope this helps!
