Volunteers and Aubies Don't Want to Play Alabama Every Year

What next, put the Aubs & Vols in a division with Vandy, Kentucky, USC, Miss. State, & Ole Miss to ensure 10 wins every year like in the Big Ten or Big 12? So instead of getting better coaching, just give them all the deadheads to play and romp over?

What began as a plaintive solo, has turned into a duet. First Auburn and now Tennessee are telling anyone who will listen, “we don’t have to play Alabama football every season.”

So far there are not many listeners. SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey announced last week that divisional realignments are not a point of discussion for the league.

In Knoxville, Butch Jones and Athletic Director John Currie’s voices have yet to join the “run from the Tide” chorus. Instead, it appears the Vols are using a media surrogate.

John Adams of the Knoxville News had this to say.

As a card-carrying member of the SEC East, Tennessee isn’t required to play Alabama every year in football. It does so voluntarily. And what does it have to show for treasuring tradition and maintaining Alabama as its permanent rival?
Ten consecutive losses by a combined count of 351-119.

I haven't listened to Finebaum this week, so I don't know what the callers are saying about this PR fiasco.

If UT doesn't want to play Bama every year, then I say let them go.  We'll have two games/year to rotate through the SEC East which will bring all the East teams on our sched more frequently.

And if Barners want to go to the East and not play Bama every year, let them go too.

Not worth arguing about.  I think both UT and Barn will loose more than they will gain if this happens.

Can't agree about Auburn. They are our biggest rival and they are trying to run & hide from us.

Can you blame either team? They don't want to play because they go in knowing they are gonna lose and if Alabama should turn around and be themselves one game then they are on top of the world for one year. The one usually being after 7 to 10 losses in a row. yes, they will be sacred until CNS leaves because he out works them all. RTR!
