I was disappointed with Fowler's production/performance last year and I'm sure there was a good reason for it. Hopefully he will become more visible on the team this year as he was before his injury.

I remember reading something about him saying he played tentatively last year, worrying about another knee injury. Let's hope he gets that out of his head this year.

Playing fullback could heal that 'head' problem.
All he has to do is slam into someone every play.  Pretty easy to get excited about that!  Hope he excels.

By next year I guess we'll be recruiting a true fullback, eh?
These days that's a 265-lb lineman with good feet.

"They've got a long way to go," coach Nick Saban said Monday. "I'm not satisfied with the way any of them are playing, if you want to know the truth about it. They've got to be more aggressive, physical, play with better leverage, hold the point better, rush the passer better. I didn't think that last year was one of our best years up front, and even though we have a couple new players competing and Dalvin Tomlinson back, I think all of them have a ways to go. ...

Dang, Coach, no optimism?

Wide receiver DeAndrew White wasn't on the field during the viewing period, but he was spotted in a black non-contact jersey, pads and shorts beforehand. He's yet to be seen doing anything but rehab activities since the start of spring practice. There's no sense in rushing him back from whatever surgery he underwent in January.

The running backs haven't changed what's apparently been working since the start of spring ball. All of the drills we saw involved the players carrying two balls. The order was: T.J. Yeldon, Derrick Henry, Kenyan Drake, Jalston Fowler, Altee Tenpenny and others...

Tenpenny, eh?

The Alabama football team held its first scrimmage of the spring on Saturday afternoon inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The scrimmage lasted roughly 125 plays and was just over two hours under sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-60s. The Crimson Tide will have Sunday off before returning to practice on Monday.

"I was really pleased with the effort and intensity the players had," Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. "I really like the attitude of this team in terms of how they go about what they try to do, how they work, the effort that they give and the mental and physical toughness that we play with. A lot of guys are trying to be conscientious to do a good job and I think that it shows in the way we play and the way we compete. The togetherness on the team is to me a lot better."

Alabama cornerback Eddie Jackson will undergo an MRI on Sunday after injuring his knee at Saturday's scrimmage.

Alabama coach Nick Saban said Jackson landed on his knee awkwardly after he jumped to catch a pass. It was a non-contact injury, he said.

Sophomore linebacker Reuben Foster suffered a stinger during the scrimmage, Saban said, stressing that the injury was relatively minor.
