For the second consecutive practice, junior nose guard Darren Lake was not around for the viewing period. We won't get an update on his status until March 31, when Nick Saban is next scheduled to meet with reporters.

WR DeAndrew White wore a black, non-contact jersey and pedaled on a stationary bike. This has been a constant since spring practice began.

An interesting sighting: Wilson Love, who left the team in January, was working as a coach with the defensive line.

Saban hinted that Tony Brown would be missing some practices in the future, but today wasn't one of them. Even with the Alabama Relays going on next door, Brown was practicing....

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Like a lot of position battles going on during spring practice in Tuscaloosa, Ala., -- hello, quarterbacks -- the starting five up front for the Crimson Tide likely won’t be decided anytime soon. Sure, Ryan Kelly returns at center, Austin Shepherd is back at right tackle and Arie Kouandjio remains at left guard, but that’s only slightly more than half the equation. The second half of the Kouandjio Bros., left tackle Cyrus, is off to a carer in the NFL, as is veteran right guard Anthony Steen, who racked up more than 35 starts in his career. Read more...

Jalston Fowler ... has played part-time running back, part-time H-back and now, with the arrival of new offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, part-time fullback.

I was disappointed with Fowler's production/performance last year and I'm sure there was a good reason for it. Hopefully he will become more visible on the team this year as he was before his injury.
