On the flip side, this is exactly how CNS prepares the defense. They are strong on fundamentals, techniques, and assignments. They know how to apply the different schemes to whatever the offense chooses to run. This is why the offense can run something totally new on us in the first quarter and sometimes have a little success. But then we see what they are up to, make some adjustments, then shut them down. You can't make those kind of adjustments on the fly during the game unless your team excels in all of the fundamentals and fully understands their assignments and your scheme. If they understand the game, it is no big deal to tweak your game plan on the fly based on what surprises the other team throws at you.
I think, if Bama had played LSU earlier in the season, we might have been in trouble. However, Bama has been improving every game, especially on offense. And it is Bama's offense that will win that as-yet-unmentionable game in the none-too-distant future.
When SC started the poll. I had LSU #1 because of their strength of schedule and their dominant defense, that and I liked the fact that history has shown that Bama has always responded better from the #2 position, so I liked them better from that spot. But watching them last night, I was blown away by the way they responded in the 2nd half. They showed their talent on both sides of the ball and were completely dominant. I know we have to take this one game at a time, but I think we will beat LSU in grand fashion .
