Quote
There's about a 100-percent chance of rain Saturday afternoon in Athens, National Weather Center meteorologist Ryan Willis told AL.com on Thursday evening. And it's going to be heavy.

The most soaking rains are expected in the afternoon when Alabama meets Georgia at 2:30 p.m. in Sanford Stadium. Willis said 2-3 inches-plus is in the current models with "persistent, heavy rainfall."

"So it could get pretty messy," he said...

Chaac was pissed at 2 for some offhanded comment.  Thus, 2 has gotten about 8" of rain this week.

Me, nothing.  Completely dry.

"HEY, CHAAC, HOW ABOUT WE ALLOW YOU TO ERASE SOME SYRIAN VILLAGE IN EXCHANGE FOR A FEW HOURS OF NO RAIN SATURDAY IN ATHENS??"

They should just move the game to the Georgia Dome.

Not sure who this weather favors more.  Maybe they'll call the game at halftime when Bama is up 31-0.

We need the Snake again for games like this.

The Snake's "Run in the mud" is my best memory of his playing days at Bama. I can remember exactly where I was while I listened to John Forney's radio broadcast of that game. I am no youngster but most of my Snake memory's are from his Oakland Raiders days.

I was at the game for the run in the mud.  I was in the press box after  announcing the MDB halftime show.  Weather was so bad I just stayed up there.  So I could see the field clearly.

As soon as Snake got across the line you could see he was going to run for a big play.  Then when he cut to the sideline you could see he could score -- if he just didn't fall down!  Thankfully he didn't.

Still remember that play like it was yesterday.

And the Aubs still claim there was a holding on the O-line that went uncalled.

I read an article from the NWS that S. Carolina could get a 1 in a 1,000 year rain from this thing. Unreal.

One thing for sure if it does all this raining I hope our equipment man is on the ball. The cleats are probably going to be one of the most important things on the field. I remember one year we played Martin High School at Ranburne in 1970 I think but our field had rain about 2 or 3 inches on it and every time we got tackled we would slide about 10 yards before stopping. rofl, RTR!

Wonderful. Many thanks, NALT.  My wife and I were in the student stands getting soaked but couldn't feel a drop once Stabler hit his stride.  One for history.

A bit of good news this morning.

The forecast now calls for light rain and showers, not heavy downpours in Athens this afternoon.  There's a chance that rain may let up for much of the game!

Here's hoping!

Here's a link for you.  I also saw the picks on the SEC Network. Some folks are picking Georgia, but the majority are backing the Tide.

I watched that already (I think) but didn't see little Herbstreit (Kirk's son).  He was on the show a few times earlier this year and nailed his picks.
