Well it seems that everyday brings a new challenge for Mrs. J and me with the farm life. Recently we had a problem with one of the horses gping lame in a hind foot. After a visit to the Vet School at MSU where we thought they were unable to diagnose anything, we brought the horse home and discovered an infection of the foot. We treated this and the horse is walking fine again. On Tuesday of this week, Mrs. J received a phone call for the Vet at MSU with some devastating news about the horse, he has a disease called EPM. This was detected through some very intensive blood work by the staff at MSU. EPM (Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis) is a very difficult disease in that it looks like many other neurological diseases.

There are treatments for the disease but no guarantee of any cure. Our hope is that it is in it's early stages and the treatments will be more effective. EPM is a parasite in the blood and is actually contacted by opossum feces. I have found two of them dead in the barn in the past. I think they ate fly bait and it killed them.

I first noticed a slight limp in the right hind quarter of the horse about a month ago and mentioned this to Mrs. J and about 10 days later the foot of the horse went bad lame. We are hoping that we have caught this in an early stage but there is no way to tell.

I have many toys to entertain me but the horses are Mrs. J's toys so it's been pretty tough on her knowing she might lose her major riding horse. Hopefully something good will happen with the treatments that we are now administering to the horse. We have two other horses  that we haven't noticed any kind of a problem with them yet but we will need to get their blood checked as well.

Very sorry to hear that, J. I know what those horses mean to Mrs J. You guys and the horse will be on my prayer list. I truly hope the treatments will work.

Lord we come to seek forgiveness for my sins that this prayer would come before your face. Lord you know Mrs. J. has these horses for her enjoyment and Lord we ask to remove this disease that is troubling this horse or the others. Lord you made these animals and you put them here for our use so right now open the windows of Heaven and pour out the healing Blessing for the real physician that knows all diseases. Thank you right now, Father and Son for answering this prayer. We praise you for your love and care for her horses. In the name of your son JESUS we ask and pray this prayer. AMEN/AMEN

Morning, all.  Coffee

After work today I've got to pack and head off to the GUN SHOW.  Wish it weren't so hot today, because it'll be a sweaty job (packing everything).  At least there is internet available in the auditorium, so I can keep up with sports news.

Hopefully Mrs Jamos finds peace in dealing with the horses.  Just sad.

Have a good Friday, everyone.  Get ready for a big FOOTBALL SATURDAY!!
Safe travels.

I'll have a busy day as well, but looking forward to the weekend. Will try a little golf and do my 12 oz curls exercise along the way. Got dinner with some old friends to look forward to and of course there will be the beatdown of Ole Miss to watch.

I've cursed myself on the pics by winning a Thursday night game. Could very well go 1-9 AGAIN.

Woke up this morning at 4:15 and thought about tomorrow's game.  I never made it back to sleep.  The wait after waking up tomorrow is going to be excruciating.

That's what happens when you get older. You'll learn to live with it. I do that pretty much every night.

Looking forward to the game tomorrow night. We have tickets in the east upper deck in section JJ. This game has a "big game" feel to it. It should be fun. Going to the game with my oldest daughter.

Up early, coffee, then off to the GUN SHOW again.  There is a big-screen TV at the show, so I'll follow the early games, then be home by 6PM to watch the biggies.
