Some great pix in here.  I was at the 1966 game we won 11-10.  As earlier poster said weather was awful.  UT went ahead 10 -0 but mid 3rd qtr rain stopped and Tide rallied to win.  It was a heart stopper.

The weather was so bad when Alabama kicked the fg that most of fans in the Bama section couldn't see the ball and had to wait for the ref's signal.  UT missed a short fg from inside the Alabama 10 at the end; would have won the game for them.
Coach Bryant showed his guts going for 2 on the road.

Yeah, well nobody's perfect.  Two years later we were back at Neyland and lost 10-9 on a 2-point conversion that failed.  Sad
Without needing to know the circumstances , he probably felt (in 1966) that they were going to give it to ND or MSU anyway.

He probably knew it was a lost cause, indeed.
Anyhow, 1968 was also the year that Missouri CRUSHED us in the Gator Bowl.   Sad
Their last signature win?

Actually their last signature win was 1975 when they beat us 20-7.

nobody posted this one ?

Vols beat Alabama for the third year in a row 38-21 at Birmingham. After the game, Manning climbs a ladder and leads the Pride of the Southland Band in a rendition of Rocky Top.

I was at that game. The above pretty much sealed my disdain for Peyton. My disdain for the entire family came a few years later when Eli said he would refuse to play for the Chargers.

I used to think Musso was massive, but he looks un-muscled compared to our runners today.

Actually, Musso was not an especially muscular player.  His legs, yes, but his upper body was not.  But he was a great talent with the best downfield-blocking technique of any back ever at Alabama.
