Mississippi State fan called Paul today seriously wondering why MSU couldn't recruit better players. Paul was somewhat mumble-mouthed with an answer. Sad because the caller was sincere.

I had not read or heard much about Bama running back signee Joshua Jacobs until Coach Saban discussed him with the REC this afternoon. CNS spoke very highly of him and I felt like he thought Bama may have stolen one with his signing. I got home and had to know more about him so I found a video and watched. I am very impressed with what I saw on the video and I can understand why CNS feels he may have stolen one from Oklahoma. For those of you that haven't seen any video of him, take a look.

Remains to be seen.  I'm a little, very little, impressed with that video.  What I see is a good runner taking snaps from the wildcat playing with a bunch of white boys from a tech school.

I know that Saban was very high on this kid and wanted him badly. That in itself tells me there's something to him.

You sign this late, you're a primma donna attention seeking whore, unless momma has inteferred with the fax.  Not sayin', just statin'.

Sometimes, between comments about lost shoes and times gone by, you insert posts which a latent reader might think without obvious relevance.  To avoid this common error, drop the intervening phrase so that the subject-verb relationship is clear.

Now, are you referencing a particular "primma donna" [sic]?

Well?

We still could get WR Demitris Robinson, Apparently, he didn't qualify academically for Stanford.

Well I saw the video and the Joshua kid was a real runner among those high school kids but he is in the SEC now. If CNS wanted him so bad he must be good, however he did remind me of Kenyan Drake with cutting and speed especially his starting speed. RTR!

Yep, maybe he runs the football that well when someone hands it off to him or as well on kick returns. I was looking more at his cuts how he made folks miss on tackles.

I agree that it's hard to tell much from the video, as far as RB skills.  What I see is a 5'10" 195 lb kid who has a lot of acceleration, 40 yd dash at 4.4 secs.  He's fast, he's an athlete.  Who better than Nick Saban to recognize the kid's natural athleticism and see the potential, if developed properly at the right position.

A few years ago, Bama recruited another HS player that was: Ht:5'10"; Wt:195 lbs; 40: 4.4 secs.  That was HTWMI.

So maybe this kid could be the next Ingram (he certainly has the Wildcat down) or maybe he'll transition to DB.  Worth the pick.

Quote
It all only reinforces that Saban simply does recruiting better than anyone else. Granted, some other services crowned different recruiting champions, but no program has ever had this kind of consistency.

"I think this class sort of reflects some of the needs that we have,” said Saban, who still has an open slot and would like to add another offensive playmaker or defensive end. “You don't get everything that you want all the time.”

But he comes the closest, and has compiled what might be the most loaded college football team in terms of talent that anyone has ever seen.

Alabama had a whopping 18 5-star players in 2015, but only two of them have since departed, running back Derrick Henry and defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson. It already had developing 5-star players ready to compete for those spots, and many of its recent major award winners came in as 4-star prospects (including Mark Ingram, Amari Cooper, AJ McCarron, Barrett Jones and C.J. Mosley).

If they have a time limit on their tests, he may not fare so well.
