When you go fishing on the coast, it's always best when the tide is running.  But my dad never paid attention to tide charts, so we'd while away for hours with little action, and I would secretly and patiently wait for the tide.

Well, tonight was like that, only much worse.  The moon is regular; you know the tide is coming.   And fishing is fishing, it's not quite religion.

So for three painful quarters, we cheered, yelled, screamed, cursed, and watched in horror as the clock kept running, Bama's offense remained stagnant, and Arkansas looked like it might just pull off its biggest victory yet under the Great Northern White Whale.

And then there was the Play, a long bomb to Ridley, like that first huge wave crashing upon the shore.  We all knew it, the Tide was coming in.  The wave swept over the 100K souls sitting on the edge of their pews and the players on the field.  There were smiles, laughter, even students dancing.

In the quieter times, during commercial breaks, you could hear people utter under their breaths, "Amen."

You write so well, my friend!
And you pick so well (8-2) in the pick-'ems.

But you didn't mention the TIDE DEFENSE.  That tide was high all night!

Once I was old enough to have my own boat, I knew to get a tide chart, and check the weather radio.

I agree with Jamos, if this team has any chance of a championship, the defense is going to have to carry the tide.  The offense is still too erratic and mistake prone.

But watching the Arkansas game, you couldn't help but remember Reggie Ragland's quote, "if they can't score, they can't win."

Thanks about the picks.  It only took 6 weeks, but I finally beat that Bamarae person.
