Tide's Saban one of best coaches ever

The Mount Rushmore of Southeastern Conference football coaches may have its fourth face.

After Tennessee's Robert Neyland, Alabama's Paul "Bear" Bryant and Florida's Steve Spurrier dominated their respective eras in the SEC, former LSU and current Alabama coach Nick Saban continues to stake his claim as an all-time great. Saban is the first coach in league history to guide two programs to national championships, and if his 7-0 Crimson Tide can finish 14-0 for a second time in three years, he would win a record 50 games in a four-year stretch.

His latest victim, Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt, has no reservations placing Saban among the league's elite historically.

"They've already got a statue down there, don't they?" Nutt said. "I think you can go ahead and do that. Whenever you hold up that crystal ball, I think you've done something very special, and he's done it at two schools."

Very good Catch,  but if we look his work in academic side and the development of class. I would say he is already there. He has brought back more Pride to this University than we have had since Coach Stallings. We are not laughed at anymore on ESPN and other places, we not only win championships but the players graduate with honors. RTR!

Neyland had 4 and Bear had 6.  Spurrier is a one hit wonder.  Saban has 2 at different schools which is unique.  When he gets 2 more at UA he will belong IMHO.

What good movies have you been watching in your office?

Since 2008 Coach Saban's Crimson Tide team has lost 5 games going 43-5.  Four of those losses have come from teams whose coaches have won National Chamiponships.

If he wins out this year and pushes the record to 50-5 in four years, and brings home #14 NC, he just maybe one of the two best coaches 'The Tide Crimson' has ever had.
