One story about his possible replacements.

Quote
Jeff Banks has been with the Crimson Tide since 2018 as a tight ends and special teams coach. He’s seen success in both fields. His coaching career includes time spent in Texas A&M and Virginia among others.

And another story.

Quote
One of the biggest names in the rumors is the current offensive coordinator for an SEC West rival. As you can see below, there is speculation that Ole Miss OC Jeff Lebby would be a good hire at Alabama:

Don't want Briles on Bama campus after his part in the Baylor fiasco.

Impossible to stop speculation in the media.  That's what they do.  But I expect CNS, and I hope Sark as well, will keep the focus on the NCG.

Butch Jones and AJ Milwee having just departed off the offensive analyst staff doesn't help a lot.  Sark would normally have team he trusted to do all of his main scouting work.  He's obviously going to be splitting time between trying to hire and staff and listening to his wife talk about housing/school options for the family.

Look for the new OC to be someone that is not on the radar. JMO

Some folks don't seem to be all that trusting in his DC decision.

In Pete Golding I am one of those HL. You remember how we use to the #1 or 2 defense in the country. Now we are way off. RTR!

Well, for one thing, the SEC isn't a defense centered conference anymore.   Most everyone is fielding high powered offenses.   Our defense did lead the SEC in points allowed per game this year at 19ppg.   If you look at the 12 teams that were in front of us in the national standings, I'd say they most or all didn't play near the same caliber of schedule that we did.

I think that some of us (myself included) are having a hard time coping with how the game has changed.  That is part of why we perceive that our defense is "so bad."

I feel like our defense improved a good amount this year as we were able to keep mostly healthy.  Considering we had a lot of guys in with limited experience, I'd give Golding a B+ or A- this year.   Last year, not so much.

Saban himself has stated you have to stop looking at statistics anymore, you have to have stops.  When you also look at stats, you have to consider the competition they played.  How do they rank statistically on the offense side of the ball as well as the competition they played.

We did great on offense other than we got less than 35 points for first time in a long time.
The defense couldn't stop Fla and other teams scoring high on us. I still think defense wins some games making 3rd down stops. RTR!

I didn’t want to hear this.

Some helpful connections may help Adam Gase find a new job sooner rather than later.

The University of Alabama is considering Gase, along with former Texans head coach Bill O’Brien, for the team’s soon to be vacant offensive coordinator role, according to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman.

Quote
Alabama has one of the most potent offense’s in the nation, leading the country in yards per play (7.84) and offensive touchdowns (72). As for Gase, his offense in New York left a lot to be desired. In 2020, the Jets offense ranked 32nd in yards per game, 31st in passing yards per game, 23rd in rushing yards per game and 32nd in points per game.
